It is such a pity because the building is so lovely and cosy looking it promised a unique experience, but did not deliver. We were greeted by the (only) waitress, who was very pleasant throughout, and seated in a room just off the kitchen which was grubby, with quite uncomfortable chairs and a table that is reminiscent of school tables. The menu came to us on a single white A4 page, my partners was stained and torn, and there was very little to choose from. We did at that stage consider leaving, but good manners dictated we stay, I did see a party of four leaving without ordering anything. The only thing I felt I could eat was the Guinea Fowl, which was a first for me so I'm not going to post my opinion of that as I have nothing to compare it to. My partner had the Sea bass special which was very nice, but again it was the only thing that appealed to him in the slightest from the menu. We both skipped the starter as nothing listed sounded appetising. Service in all was quite slow, but not unfavourably slow in good company. Unfortunately I cannot recommend this restaurant, and will not be returning.close

Having gone to Nimmos many times I was delighted to hear that it was to reopen...however be careful what you wish for. Upon arrival we were shoeved at a table on top of kitchen and in path of waiting staff, we ordered and after receiving starters and wine promptly were waiting well over an hour for main courses, on excuse or apology was given for this delay. We also commented on the heat and were told it was not their fault. After the meal was over we spoke to the supervisor who apologised but told us was not her fault and in fact because of the delay we has caused them to become delayed!!!! No recompense was offered not even a bottle of water...which I hasten to add cost €5!! It will be a long time before I return...oh and by the way the food is only so so anyway :)close

I really enjoy Nimmo's any time I'm in Galway. It's a weird looking place - used to be the mediaval customs house (one Christopher Columbus is reputed to have visited...) but inside it's all wooden tables, atmosphere and very good fresh food. Very pleasant waiting staff as well!
