Nice hostel. It's on a nice pedestrian street with a bunch of shops and restaurants. The breakfast was pretty average with toast and juice. There were no lockers in the rooms, which was a big bummer. Overall, it's a nice place to stay. It's a fair walk from the main bus station.

Lovely hostel, great location, really nice staff. Bathroom and rooms were spotless but had to switch bed linen as it wasn't as clean as the rest. That said, I'd still go back in a heartbeat. Great value, especially due to the location. Drections on site were also very good.

Nice, clean hostel, my room very very quiet, which was awesome for a 16 bed hostel room. Shower was HOT in the morning and Cold in the afternoon. Great kitchen and lounge area. Awesome location.

The shower for room 111 was terrible. Bad pressure and 2 mornings in a row there was no hot water. Other than that fantastic.

Typical hostel, clean rooms, free breakfast is a bonus and has a great kitchen to use. Though no hot water!!! in my opinion scrap breakfast and spend it on heating water as Galway isn't a warm place.

The staff were beyond helpful and anticipated requests for help. Security was very good. The hostel layout is byzantine, (perhaps the result of taking over upper floors of adjacent buildings?) but the exits are well-marked. My room (6 bed female dorm) was bright and clean. The common areas were also clean and well-kept.close

The website photos led us to believe a twin room had two single beds, when it was actually bunks. room very small and damp. Building on the whole needed better flow of fresh air/carpets. However these things are to be expected of a hostel. It was clean, cheap, friendly, central and secure.

Tiny twin rooms, like attic rooms, over priced for what we got - sorry, great location but not the best room, shower was not great and leaked water out to the toilet area, no heating on either in the rooms.

I loved Barnacles. The location was great except for the intense amount of noise from the street, but that's probably what you'd get with such a great location. I liked the rooms and the bathroom and the staff was great. Thanks for a great time!

I had the best time at the hostel!! Everything was perfect, the atmosphere, the staff, the room. The only improvement I can suggest is security lockers in the room, but except for that everything was just excellent!

The location is great, right in the heart of Galway and the kitchen was well set up. The bathroom in our room wasn't particularly clean though and the shower was so strong it was actually painful!

this hostel has a great location, right on quay street, where all the shops, restaurants and pubs are. it can get loud at night if your room is facing the street, but just bring some ear plugs and you'll be fine. i would recommend this hostel and would stay there again
