It was kinda hard to find, as the gas station that the directions refer to is no longer there, but if follow the directions and turn right at the construction site, you'll find it. It's not really conducive to meeting people and going out to the bars or clubs (which are great in Fukuoka), but the location is much better than the hostel in town, since it's only a 10 - 15 minute walk to where all the nightlife is at.close

Fun was not expected. We already know ryokans that provide much better conditions for foreigners. We expected: (1) Credit Card payment (2) Communication with some basic knowledge of english language (3) Breakfast offering (no matter japanese or continental, simple or not)close

Just sleep and go out. I think that the price goes with the property.

The Reception man spoke very little english. It was rather difficult to communicate. The building was very hard to find.

This is a lovely new ryokan. Very clean with good sized rooms. Breakfast is great and the owner is very friendly and speaks good english. We really enjoyed our stay and will stay there again when we are next in Japan.

They even gave us towels when we left 40 minutes too late.close

That said once we got our barings, it's very close to Canal City and the 5 min. walk takes you through a quaint little shrine. The staff speak little English but are very friendly. 2 little dogs greeted us while we waited a few moment for some staff to check us in. The actual 'hostel' is oddly laid out. We were taken through what seemd a maze of hallways. But our room was decent and was quite traditional, with tatami matts, bed rolls and green tea. We slept better here than at a much more expensive hotel. The room was cool, but the big puffy duvet kept us very warm. Shared bathroom facilties. We'd stay here again.close
