Fez is surrounded by medieval walls and the Fez Medina was declared a UNESCO world hertitage site as one of the oldest inhabited medieval cities in the world. It is divided into two parts, Fez el Bali which is the old city, and fez el Djedid, the new town. Fez is full of small winding alley ways, magnificent mosques and unique architecture. If do visit Fez, you should make sure to visit The Merenid Tombs and The Boujeloud Gardens. Unique to this city is the evening roost where thousands of birds take to the skies in the evening time in search of food for their young, who nest in the walls of the city.
