The schoolin' is about as hard as you would imagine, but the city is really beautiful. Come in the spring or the summer. If there's no rain, the parks are a wonderful thing to visit. It's a pedestrian city, so be prepared to walk. On my hardest field trip day, I spent 5 hours walking. It's probably more like 1 to 2 hours across the day for most though. Also, the school has apparently been at odds with the city for the last 600 years. Just something to think about.close

I showed them the confirmation mail from Hostelworld (which says canceling 24h prior arrival), and they smiled to me and accepted canceling without taking money. Very nice! I was allowed to visit the place and take broshures, nice place, close to the station, easy to find, good value for money! Next time I stay there!close

From the magnificient churches and delightful markets to the hippest nightclubs and trendiest stores, Oxford has something for everyone. Get an almond croissant from Queens Lane Coffee Shop early in the morning when its fresh from the oven! Or grab a snack from Ben's Cookies or Moo's Milkshakes in the Covered Market! For shopping, hop on a bus to Bicester Village Outlet where you can get brand names for great deals! When it's raining, sit back and relax with a book and a cup of tea (or coffee) at one of Oxford's many cafes. During the day, look at the city's marvelous architecture (some were used in the Harry Potter films). And at night, party at the clubs in City Centre. Compared to London, Oxford is definitely more relaxing and manageable for a short vacation!close

The plus side is that there are plenty of fine dining options, cocktail bars and chic night clubs. That is, for me, also the down side. The Oxford of cheap student eats, crowded pubs and bicycles crowding every patch of pavement seems to have disappeared. One can go anywhere in the world to any large city and enjoy those high-end and gourmet establishments. So, for me, the changing face of Oxford means that the unique Oxford with decades - no, centuries - of a very special University atmos seems to have disappeared. And that was a great disappointment.close

Perfect location. Dirty and bad smelling towels (unusable), toilets damaged, no possibility to deposit cloths or bath utensils while showering or washing. The parking possibility for cars written in the discription is a usal pay-parking and therefore quite expensive. But at least: quite cheap.

Top Rated Oxford Attractions

  1. That Funny Oxford Walk100%

This is soooo cool! The guy is hilarious! It's a guided walk around Oxford but is funny - it's more like comedy street theatre. It's called That Funny Oxford Walk and it starts from this really lovely bar called The Living Room (we got a little bit drunk there!) right next to the Oxford Castle ruins. Took us 90 minutes and only cost about $12 which for an...

If you want to experience what a true Oxford college is, visit Magdalen. If at all possible, do it with an Oxford student as they will give you less hassle at the door. The grounds are expansive and between the deer park and the second park on the side, there is plenty to see. If you're there on May day, dont' miss the boys' choir singing from the top of the...
