Didn't really enjoy Manchester. Not much to see in the city except for the Urbis. But try a visit to the Quays to the Imperial War Musuem as well as the outlet mall. The war museum is a brilliant design and extremely interesting. |

man united rules, make mine a treble! |

A bit expensive for what it really was but all in all was a good break.
I recommend a £16 a night for a 6 bed dorm (19 is simply too much!) |

Great place to stay. |

manhester itself is a little boring, but only a short bus ride away are more attractive cities like Liverpool, Blackpool, York and Chester! |

The weather was great. It rained a little the second day I was there but it was only the kind of rain you could duck into a store for a while and avoid. Shopping was great and the sales staff, supermarket check-out assistants, waiters and museum hosts are friendly. Good transport but most things are within walking distance. Easy city to navigate. Clubs could be a bit more happening and things could open a little earlier on Sundays but otherwise a good place to spend a weekend. |

Manchester is a multicultural and urabn city. Full of tolerance and respect. Due to this I love Manchester. |

LOTS of people, but a cool city |

I've visited Manchester many many times over the years and it's rained every time I've been which makes it look pretty depressing.. They have some great concert venues though and the Gay area is pretty varied.. |

the place was cosy for my friend and me...the free toast n coffee was handy in the morning...as well as through the night...the tv room was nice with free shows being played=) was pretty easy to get to the hostel from the bus station as well=) generally a good place to be in |

The MU tour was really excellent |

It's great place for friendly people and up to the minute fashion and art. Manchester has retained a great deal of its Victorian buildings and jaxtaposed these with modern buildings and works of art on nearly every corner. There is a confidence and cosmopolitian air about Manchester, with the sound of scooters and trams, you could imagine yourself in France or Italy. |

Considering I don't know anyone here, I've had a pretty good time and I've met some really friendly and helpful locals. Despite the cool weather and rain, I'd come here again (maybe in summer!!) |

if it had not been too noisy to sleep, it would have been wonderful |

Great city for shopping not alot on the tourist scene but christmas markets are great and eating out was really good too. |

We loved the city, it's very easy to get around and get familiar with, but as for a place to party, it has some serious disadvantages. What do they mean by closing the bars at two o'clock at night at the very latest, UNLESS you're a gay male and you can prove it?! Talkin about discrimination... -Great fun as long as it lasts, though. |

Great place to stay. Close to the train, probably would have been more fun if I wasn't so terribly jet-lagged. |

What makes Britain great, makes Manchester yet greater. |

Manchester doesn't have a whole lot to see, but it's a city with a lot of character and a nice place to go to take it easy after being busy sightseeing elsewhere. |

Strong wind, shower rain, low temp, what can be worse then in a trip?? |

Apart from the shopping and the area around the Lowry and Castlefield there are limited tourism options. A tour of Old Trafford is a must and the guided tours of town are great. |

Canal Street is a highlight! |

manchester is a brill city fantastic i had a great time |

Manchester is a shopping paradise and not too expensive , but -BUT- there is nothing green, no trees, no flowers, no birds and even the tiny piccadilly gardens are surrounded by fences. probably that was the reason for the outstanding bad air. |

I was really only in Manchester to go to the Man Utd match...the hostel was great and the city was really easy to get around, but appart from that there isn't really much else to Manchester... |

A nice place to visit |

Great City - really worth a visit! |

I love lots about Manchester - the good mix of people, there are some amazing restaurants and cafes at a far cheaper price than London, some brilliant art galleries and musuems and all are free, getting around is easy but slow sometimes, loads of cultural events and great shopping. There is so much to see and do whatever your interests. However, I was suprised by the nightlife - it wasn't nearly as good as I expected, given such a lively, cultural diverse city. |

A nice city with two super football stadia and cool pubs. |

The place was great - diverse, cultural, nice weather even! Only real bad thing that I came across really, was the fact that when it was my time to leave :( for the airport and I had a day of waiting for my flight ahead of me, the "lockers"/ storage safe, cost £ 5,50 per item ! Well, I don't know about you, but I thought it was outrageous.. |

great place to visit, lots to do! |
|

 |
Not much sightseeing availabl;e in the city itself but it is a great starting point to a host of other areas close by like Chester, York, Liverpool, etc. |
|
|
 |
cabs suck i had to wait 2 hours for a cab on a sat night |

Only one night spent in Manchester unfortunately - got really drunk, listened to some GREAT music, hung out with all the bands afterwards.
Everyone's so damn friendly! |

Firstly, I am a huge Man Utd fan! The only reason I go to Manchester is to see a game and I would imagine that is the same with most people. The city itself isn't great and there's not a lot to do, although it is improving every time I go over. The run-down is being replaced with the modern and it really is slowly getting it's act together as a major city.
Word of warning: if you're going over for a Champions League game you may find it very difficult to find somewhere to go afterwards. Most of the pubs close early mid-week so you could be left with nothing to do. |

go to the hilton tower (level 23) cloud 23 it is cold. its a bar there, will amazing views of manchester, very relexing, nice drinks. pricey but we went there on sunday at 6pm so no queue (and they let us in with trainers). buses can get you anywhere and are very reasonable. |
|
|
 |
as above, The tv gives manchester a grubby back street image. The city centre couldn`t be further from the truth. If I have a chance to travel there on busines, I will look forward with delight to the time spelt there. |

I though Manchaster had a lot of party, but after 3 o´clock almost everything was gone. We tried to ask the people maybe 10 times about where is the party, but no way, they were rude and not very helpful. The ones that were more polite told us that the only zone in Manchaster was the zone we were and definately party finish at 3 o´clock in Manchester. I didn´t expect this about this city because some people told us about great night life. Maybe it was just a not so good night. |

 |
good city over the weekend..beautiful people all around..nothing really exciting to do, but has a good atmosphere |
|
|
 |
This place might be fun if you wanted to stay out all night partying, but for normal touristy activities, it doesn\'t have much to offer. It\'s really industrial, and it\'s an ugly city. I don\'t think it\'s worth visiting. |

Rooms are big, clean and most with ensuites, all u can ask for! The staff are helpful and the location is ideal, short walk to the station, and all the shops and bars! |

Manchester isn`t great place for tourists,i have to say. quite small and dirty. i would recommend Science museum and shopping during the day and i think everyone can find right place for partying during the night. the thing i did not like the most was... bunch of drunken english teens(i like to party and i travel a lot,but english kids are just awful and the most annoying people i`ve seen!!)!
so my advise is... if you want to visit England, but can go to different place... just do it!!
cheers |
