I didn´t expect this about this city because some people told us about great night life. Maybe it was just a not so good night.close

The only reason I go to Manchester is to see a game and I would imagine that is the same with most people. The city itself isn't great and there's not a lot to do, although it is improving every time I go over. The run-down is being replaced with the modern and it really is slowly getting it's act together as a major city. Word of warning: if you're going over for a Champions League game you may find it very difficult to find somewhere to go afterwards. Most of the pubs close early mid-week so you could be left with nothing to do.close

There is so much to see and do whatever your interests. However, I was suprised by the nightlife - it wasn't nearly as good as I expected, given such a lively, cultural diverse city.close

It rained a little the second day I was there but it was only the kind of rain you could duck into a store for a while and avoid. Shopping was great and the sales staff, supermarket check-out assistants, waiters and museum hosts are friendly. Good transport but most things are within walking distance. Easy city to navigate. Clubs could be a bit more happening and things could open a little earlier on Sundays but otherwise a good place to spend a weekend.close

I wasn't there on a weekend so didn't do any "partying" or clubbing if that's what you mean? I LOVE the free shuttle busses! And the weather, well, it's England. Some rain, some sun. It could have been worse - but it was fine by me. I think the city would be a relative good value for the money if I wasn't paying double for everything because the Dollar is valued so low. And I loved the old factory buildings on the outskirt of the city center. But I felt the city played down it's musical culture/history. Only a very slight nod to the Smiths at one of the museums and no mention of other great bands anywhere in the city - one of the main reasons why I wanted to see Manchester for myself! New Order, Oasis, and so many more. Oh, and I did rather enjoy URBIS - only wish I had gone on my first day there and not my last.close

Fairly noisy place but comfortable enough. The staff were great and the airport transfer service very useful at 5am!

More non smoking rooms would be useful. We had to delay check in because there were not enough non smoking rooms. They were however very helpful and good in providing my friend with a larger non smoking room when there where none left.

The room was well tidy and clean and the staff has always been friendly, available and smiling. It was a friday night, so the 2 clubs at the BF were a bit...

City centre, close to main train station.Anything Else?
A café during the day, this venue turns into an extremely popular live rock music venue at night.
Great breakfasts and a place to chill right in the centre of Manchester. Dark and relaxed atmosphere, frequent gigs and a cool crowd. This is a good place to start your day in Manchester, surrounded by the shops on Oldham Street.

The Theatre of Dreams; Englands largest Club stadium; home to Manchester United, the worlds greatest football team! Yes, I am a United fan. Have been over to see my team play on several occasions and only once had a bad experience (0-0 with Lille... terrible game!). For such a huge stadium the fans are very close to the pitch and during big games the...

I really liked this gallery with diverse collections of art. Showing the ongoing restoration work of the Sirens and Ulysses is a great idea, hilarious section with conservators answering questions on small notes of paper (Are you planning to add a dog to the picture - Yes, was thinking of a Spaniel or a labrador). Great interactive section for kids, where I...
