I was generally happy in Bath and all the facilities. I stayed in the YMCA & the Backpackers hostel and was impressed with both. I have also been to the Bath Univiersity & think very highly of the Uni & all it has to offer. Take the free walking tour of the city. It's free and they do a great job. The Abby is also free. the old Roman Bath tour is great and worth the money. Stay away from the Moraccan Restaurent. Bath is a nice town with a couple of interesting things to see. But it definitively does not deserve the publicity it gets. And £11 for the roman baths is a rip off. What a fantastic place. Even with the hoards of tourists, it is a beautiful town, nestled around the Avon River. The roman baths are well worth a visit, but give yourself plenty of time, becasue there is plenty to look at - and don't forget to take the audio guide. It gives a great insight to Roman culture in roman Britain as well as the history of the baths over the centuries that followed. But don't just stick to the main tourist sights - take a good pair of walking shoes and strike out on foot. There are lots of grat spots to explore and beautiful vistas to discover away from the town centre - and you'll get a great cardio workout at the same time! For an insight into life of the upper class in Georgian England I'd recommend visiting No 1 The Royal Crescent. It's beautifully restored and the volunteer guides are a mine of information. For the foodies there are a great collection of artisan bakeries and delis, as well as Brisitsh Pubs and tea shops. Also pop into Sally Lunn'sat 4 North Parade Passage. There is a large menu, but for the authentic sally lunn bun, have it served with either cinnamon or brandy butter. Also check out the original bakery in the basement museum.close

You can feel the history as you walk around and for a place so small, there's far too much to do for a simple day trip. We sat in a bar and ended up quickly falling in to conversation with the locals around us. They were friendly and easygoing, making a quick stop for a pint last nearly a couple of hours. It's beautiful day or night, and a must-see for anyone who's planning a trip to Englandclose

Very friendly & helpful staff! Strategic location, manage to reach attractions by walking distance. Breakfast provided, but it seems lesser choice as compare with my previous stay in few months ago.

  3. Bath YMCA 79%

Check out is at exactly at 10am, if you're not out on time they announce your room over the loud speakers! But other than that it is a pleasant place to stay, rooms clean with the bed made for you! Bathrooms clean.

bedrooms and common areas were really clean, but the showers in the bathrooms were starting up their own garden. TV in the common room kept blacking out at intervals.

Staff were rude and unfriendly. Despite being made to sign rules regarding noise/behaviour, was kept awake by people running up and down the stairs at 3am/4am/5am laughing their heads off. I really don't recommend this hostel!

They said they had wireless. However,When I came to there, they cut their wireless service. The staff are not polite. Also, dust, insect and disgusting smelling are expected in the room. The breakfast that they privided are not nice. The bathroom are dirty and wet.

We were advised at check-in our room rate included breakfast, however when we actually sat down to breakfast and had already started eating we then advised breakfast would be £5 per person. The hotel would not honour their initial confirmation of breakfast being included and charged us...

If you book through Hostelworld the breakfast is not included even if they tell you it is. You also have to pay to use Spa and swimming pool
