Each wonderful and very different from the other. Eating out is expensive and the food often underwhelming. Very little to do in the town except on organised tours, so probably only best to stay for a couple of days.close

Since Puerto Natales in Chile is more expensive, it is better to stay in the Argentinian territory. The only drawback is that the city is crowded with wealthy tourists what makes things more costly than in other Argentinian cities. In sum, Calafate is all about glaciars and trekkings.close

Maybe too many americans with money have ruined a good thing as usual. Everything is OVERPRICED. The excursions are expensive and you don´t get alot for your money. Way too many souvenir shops selling handicrafts at ludicrous prices, and a tour agent evey other door. The whole pueblo felt like Disneyland´s version of "Patagonia, the ride". Alot of UGLY construction is maring the landscape. The other tourists are sitting in judgement of each other. I hear Ushuaia is better but I didn´t go there. Too bad : (close
