We requested a seat in the main part of the restaurant and specifically asked not to be seated by the toilets. We were told to arrive at 8.50pm for a 9pm booking as we would then have a better chance of having our place of choice!!?? Surely when a table is booked they can pre-locate the table?? On Friday night we got a phone call asking us where we were... we informed them that the booking was made for the following night. When we showed up at 8.50 we were very rudely treated by the manager Shane who disputed our booking. He said that he had taken the booking and he knew that he had not taken it incorrectly!! I asked him if that meant we were lying. Surely we would know the date of a 50th birthday!! He kept us waiting for 5 minutes in the doorway as the other duty manager escorted another group n past us. Shane told us that he would never have told us to come at 8.50. He was the one who had suggested it in the first place!! As you can imagine it was very embarrassing and if we had not had guests with us we would have walked away in disgust. When we were taken to our table yes you've guessed it...it was beside the toilets! This was the second time we had eaten in the Unicorn. On the previous occasion we had friends home from Dubai and they had no record for that booking either!! We tried to make the best of the evening. In fairness the waiter who served us was very cordial and efficient unlike his manager. We did not stay for dessert or after dinner drinks and went to a wine bar around the corner to finish the evening. Normally we would have had desserts, coffees and port and cheese board so the Unicorn would probably have increases their takings by another 200 Euro! They say that people will tell 8 other people if they have had a good restaurant experience and 20 people if they have had a bad experience. I have told everyone I've met about the behaviour of Shane. It is definitely off the staff night out list in 5 businesses. All due to very bad management. I would suggest that Shane go back on a refresher course in how to treat cusomers!!close

Great atmosphere. Italian. Gliterati hangout. The do a buffet at lunchtime which is popular. Ideal place for a long lunch and several bottles of wine. Booking will be necessary ... especially Friday.
