This is one of my regular spots, if you want to get away from your cheesy tunes it's the place to go. To get in for free get there before 11 (I think), you can drink away in the front bar and listen to some great music, when the gig that is on in the back is finished you can head in there to let... more This is one of my regular spots, if you want to get away from your cheesy tunes it's the place to go. To get in for free get there before 11 (I think), you can drink away in the front bar and listen to some great music, when the gig that is on in the back is finished you can head in there to let loose and dance until 3am(ish)! It's one of the best gig venues in dublin also, worth checking out who is playing when you're around.close

It's a pub and live performance venue.It's an intimate venue.There is always different acts performing.This is perhaps the city's best place to see live music up close.

I take the comparatively long drive to Dublin at least once a month to go to Whelans. Famous for great live music they serve a niche often overlooked. theres usually a small cover charge, depending on the band and its a great place to showcase new Irish talent. See if you can spot the next Van... more I take the comparatively long drive to Dublin at least once a month to go to Whelans. Famous for great live music they serve a niche often overlooked. theres usually a small cover charge, depending on the band and its a great place to showcase new Irish talent. See if you can spot the next Van Morrisson, U2, Thin Lizzy or Westlife... actually, we're not as proud of that last one. The last gig I was at in Whelans was The Frank & Walters ... Think it was about €15..close
