Tourist trap, but it's a good laugh. They always have live Irish music bands and you get to meet people from all over. It's on the pricey side and if you are looking to experience real irish pubs I wouldn't say this is it, but at the same time it's entertaining!

Oliver St. John Gogartys really has everything under 1 roof. Self catering apartmants and a youth hostel and a great pub/restaurant. The pub is very lively and very much traditionally Irish. Self catering apartmants and a youth hostel and a great pub/restaurant. The pub is very lively and very much traditionally Irish. A great mix of tourists and locals looking to score with tourists. The food here is good and I challenge you to finish the t-bone steak. Its a big one. Overall, a Great and enjoyable pub. The risk with these mainstream touristy pubs is it may get tacky but this is not the case with Olivers, and the exterior of the building is stunning.close

It is located in the heart of Dublin city centre in Temple Bar. Their music sessions run almost non stop. The band is so great and they really interact with the crowd. They have their regular players as well as a special guest every week. The place can be quite packed on weekends but it is definitely worth the experience. While enjoying music, you can have a good meal in their bar for reasonable prices. They also have a traditional Irish restaurant on the second floor where you can try local favourites such as Dublin Bay Mussels or sliced smoked salmon. If you do not require silence while you try to fall asleep, you can book accommodation with them as they also run hostel in the same building. Oliver St. John Gogarty is also a place where you can start musical pub crawl. It is led by two professional musicians who play songs and tell the stories. It is very interesting and you can learn about influences of Irish traditional music on world contemporary music. Musical pub crawl starts at Oliver St. John Gogarty and from there you will be taken to other famous pubs and bars in Temple Bar area. It is a great fun and the lovers of music should definitely not miss it.close
