Kakadu was awesome. I had been told that everythings closed but its not at all. I did a great 3 day tour and we had a ball. I felt like I saw some of the "real" Australia. There is a very chilled out vibe we love it. The night markets are really cool you can get some very different stuff at real low prices, its just a cool ass place and well worth our 4 day train ride to get here. We definitely reccomend Darwin 100% make sure you go there too, you'll be glad you did.close

Darwin is tiny. You can't swim in the water it's too infested with jellyfish and sharks and crocs. They say it's the most diverse territorial city in Australia, however, aside from the drunken aboriginees, Perth & Sydney have way more Asians. Unfortunately it was rather disappointing....more Darwin is tiny. You can't swim in the water it's too infested with jellyfish and sharks and crocs. Darwin is quite small and quiet, but if you like the whole '18-30 / studenty party' thing it's got a bit of that too by the looks of it. It's either hot and dry in Darwin or hot and wet. Kakadu National Park is fantastic, waterfalls, Aboriginal rock paintings, wildlife; you really need 4 wheel drive to get around though; tours can be booked easily once you get to Darwin or do it before online. There is also Lichfield Park nearby but I can't comment on it as I didn't visit it.close

Wilderness Lodge Backpackers 75%
We found the people who used the lodge were very untidy, the kitchen was very unclean, due to people not cleaning up after themselves, the bunks were unsteady and the dorms smalls and cramped, Shower/ toilet not that good either, location and staff both good thou! If you like to chill and smoke...

1For the price it is fine. Best if you don't have high expectations. The rooms are spacious and beds good, but overall a bit grubby and with sticky floors.

The Cavenagh 74%
The sleeping room was dirty and smelly and it looked like the trash hadn't been cleaned out from under my bed in weeks. Bathrooms were better but with a toilet paper shortage.AC functioned poorly in the room with half of the room hot and the other cold. A noisy, party place not for serious...

Value Inn 69%
Firstly they doubled the price them my Dad had such a bad experience he checked out earily. The staff where very un-cooperative , not wanting to personly show him how to get into room when he initically had problems (he is 85). Also there where no Phone facilities and they offered no assistance ....

1Great location! Very central for shops, bars, travel etc. Pretty quiet unless you use communal facilities at Melaleucca next door. Annoying to not have a kettle in the room but rooms very clean.

Mindil Beach Markets100%
Great way to spend an evening, the idea is you go to Mindil beach and watch the sunset then head to the markets where you can taste lots of different cuisines and buy local crafts. You can also learn how to play the diggery do. I went on a Thursday night which was a few years ago so check with tourist office or accommodation to find out what night it’s on
