The night life is very cool because you have backpackers from all over the world getting ready there to walk up to Machu Pichu , and Guaina Pichu. Also it is great to get a horse and ride around the sorrounding hills.close

One of the best experiences of my life. I was there in January when the normal Inca Trail was closed for some sort of work on it (what that could be I'll never know!) so off we headed on another one which was just as spectacular, walking along and just coming across a waterfall, setting up camp at night while the peruvians cooked up a storm (although with altitude sickness eating was sometimes a problem!). It was one of the most exhilerating feeling though climbing up to the Valley of the sun at about 5am where the clouds just cleared and Matchu Picchu was right there in front of you. Cusco was a great place to go back to after that to just chill out and hang out with all the other backpackers, some great bars and restaurants are there!close

Free concerts every day at five in the cathedral. A surprise exhibit of Martin Chambi photographs, Don't miss the textile exhibit & shop on the Avenue of the Sun (#500 something). Leisurely coffee on balconies overlooking the square. Ceviches and other typical meals at very low cost. Somewhat aggressive vendors; internet (and tourists) everywhere. A+close

Getting out, though, is the best plan - several options for outdoor activities. Shopping is great as long as you don't mind the haggling. I bought a scarf - initial asking prices S75, got two for S50. I hate haggling! be ware of people always wanting unfair money from "gringo's", otherwise I loved it. Also, watch out for "heart of cow" - looks like beef. I would go back for the hiking, camping and more adventurous activities. Wish they offered rock climbing!close

Beautiful hotel, close enough to walk to the square. LOVED the security guard at the front and restaurant staff, so helpful. The woman at the front desk was a bit rude at times, and they were stingy with the toilet paper (3 girls, 1 room, eating different foods= needed more) Also, the wood...

Chez Maggy Restaurant100%
They have two restaurants in Cusco, one in Aguas Calientes and a few more in different cities, but our favorite one was in Calle Plateros in Cusco. There is a wood-fire oven! They have nice pizzas, lasagnas and great Peruvian food too. My favorite choice is the menu turistico. I also tried cuy (roasted guinea pig) here, it was a major experience!

Temple of the Sun100%
No visit to Cuzco is complete without a visit to the Temple of the Sun. During Inca rule, this place also called the Coricancha, or "Golden Courtyard," was covered with gold and silver sculptures representing llamas, corn, babies, and the sun, all of which were melted down by the Spanish. The temple also served as a tomb for several Incas, or kings. An...

The Cathedral100%
The Cathedral is absolutely amazing! It is one of the city's greatest repositories of colonial art, especially from the Cuzco school of painting, which produced striking combinations of 16th- and 17th-century European style with the imagination and customs of the Andean Indian artists. A definite must for any visitor!
