I was actually a little... more The Little Mermaid statue looks a little wistful from where she sits on top of her boulder looking out over the harbour in Langelinie. She might be looking towards the sea in hopes of escaping the tourists who clamber out on the rocks and all over her to get a picture. I was actually a little taken aback by the lack of respect people were showing this work of art. I'm a huge fan of the Hans Christian Andersen story this statue is based on and I was really looking forward to seeing her. After a while, the crowd did disperse though and I was able to get a better look without all the bobbing heads in the way. The sculpture was created by Edvard Eriksen and unveiled in 1913. She's visited by around a million people each year.close

If I have to be honest with you I was expecting something else, it is nice, but it is smaller that I thought.
