The selection of modern art here is really great. Works of art by famous painters like Picasso and Rembrandt are also on display. While I was visiting there was a great temporary exhibit filled with weird and wonderful modern art installations, from videos to one room where dolls were stuck all over the floor. Definitely worth a look.close

   Going on one of the canal tours is a great way to get a different view of lots of the city's main attractions. It's also great for pictures if you go on a sunny day. As the boat takes you around the harbour and different canals, you'll see stuff like The Little Mermaid statue and part of the... more Going on one of the canal tours is a great way to get a different view of lots of the city's main attractions. It's also great for pictures if you go on a sunny day. As the boat takes you around the harbour and different canals, you'll see stuff like The Little Mermaid statue and part of the Christiania commune. It takes about an hour and a half for the full tour. I really liked hearing about all the little bits of information about the different attractions and the city itself too. At different parts of the tour, the boat goes under some of the very low bridges spanning the canals so watch your head.close

I missed the guided tour, which you can pick up on Saturdays and Sundays at 3pm, but I... more I loved visiting Christiania and thought it was one of the most interesting parts of Copenhagen. This commune or 'free town' was set up in 1971 and is built around alternative lifestyles and communal living. I missed the guided tour, which you can pick up on Saturdays and Sundays at 3pm, but I did have a good wander around to get a taste for the area. There are lots of stalls not too far inside the main entrance. These sell everything from handmade jewellery to scarves. Food and drinks are available here too. It should be noted that you can't take photos here, and there are plenty of signs reminding visitors of this. Lots of bands play in the main stage area and throughout the year many different events are held. Authorities used to turn a blind eye to the open sale of weed throughout Christiania but in recent years they've cracked down on that a lot.close

I thought all the statues dotted around the grounds were really different, from the seahorses to the funky modern art. There are lots of benches to sit down on if you fancy a rest. A lot of the flower gardens weren't in bloom when I was there, but I imagine they're pretty spectacular during the spring.close

    This gallery is really easy to find, as it's located right beside Tivoli Gardens. I went quite early in the morning so it was pretty quiet, but it was starting to get a lot busier as I left. There are a lot of cool things to see here, including mummies from ancient Egypt. To see these you have to... more This gallery is really easy to find, as it's located right beside Tivoli Gardens. I went quite early in the morning so it was pretty quiet, but it was starting to get a lot busier as I left. There are a lot of cool things to see here, including mummies from ancient Egypt. To see these you have to so down a set of stairs into this darkened room, which is actually a little bit creepy. Paintings by some very famous artists like Monet can be seen here too. There's also a winter garden just past the main entrance hall. It's nice to sit here under the palm trees and watch the fish swimming around in the fountain. You do have to pay to get in, but if you're around on Sundays this is a great day to visit as the gallery offers free admission.close
