I went to Cologne, Munich, Berlin, and Frankfurt, but Cologne is by far my favorite town. It\'s small, but I had a lot of fun. |

Cologne - it's absolutely a great city; from the cultural point of view there are plenty of museum to see and loads of exibition of new modern art. Patying it's great specially in the University Area of Zulpicher Strasse, plenty of pubs, kneipe and people. |

It is not the most beautiful city in Germany but certainly one of the most enjoyable one. Da people are friendly and have a sense of joy. Life is never boring in Cologne as U are given a lot of possibilities 2 enjoy da good life. Oh yes! You will enjoy your stay in Cologne :-)) When visiting Cologne, take da time to discover da city. It's like a big puzzle of historical buildings or parts of buildings in a modern surrounding. Its well worth da visit and furthermore close to other interesting places like Aachen, Dusseldorf or Frankfurt/Main. |

Cologne is a festive place!
It is not as visually striking as Berlin or Munich but it is well worth da visit.
Walk around and look, da past and da present have collided and da city is da result of a mix of new and old, often old being part of the new.
Go and check it out! |

Nice people, great weather, beautiful panorama. Wonderful shopping street too, great clothes style! :D |

The Dom is impressive, but otherwise, nothing amazing here. Go someplace else. |

Koeln is not quite so good as i've imaged. No good sightseeing, except that big dom. No good and interesting place like museum or building to visit, heavy traffic, noisy, not quite clean, and things are not cheap in shopping streets like Hohe Str. |

The cathedral (unmissable from most of Cologne) is spectacular anda must see, even if you don't normally like cathedrals. It has huge ceilings and if you are feeling adventurous you can climb the spire. Cologne is also right on the Rhine, so for anyone with a Eurail pass - seriously consider the KD Boat along the Rhine (free with Eurail pass) the best section s probably Koblenz to Mainz but boats leave from Cologne and it is a great day especially if the weather is nice. We had a great time in Cologne, and if you have time to take a walk around the city there is plenty to see. The Rathaus (Town Hall) has some great ruins you can view from above in the courtyard in front, but there is plenty else to see as well. |

Little did we know that 11 November is the start of Carnival. It made transport very crowded and awkward. |

The bathroom en toilet were very dirty. Whe came late in the evening, but anyhow i would have expected it to be cleaner. |

Limited sights, really. All we saw was the cathedral and the chocolate museum. Of those - go to the chocolate museum! |

Cologne is beautiful at Christmas time with many traditional Christmas markets to suit all tastes. The dark afternoons are lit by tasteful Christmas lights and the warm comfort of Gluhwein. Other attractions include the impossible to miss Cathedral towering above the HauptBahnhof and the yummy chocolate museum on the bank of the river. For relaxing with friends, Cologne is not expensive and offers a great alternative to Paris, Brussels or Berlin. |

the hostel was very good and the city is decent. we went for the football and got suitably drunk every day. Not as good as amsterdam but still worth a trip |

We came to Cologne to watch Bayer Leverkusen V Tottenham, but we could not get tickets for the match. So we ended up watching it at a bar called Joe Champs (recomended by our hostel receptionist).
It was a great atmosphere and the locals were very friendly. The next day we explored the city and the cathedral etc and loved it. The Meininger hostel was very friendly and in a great location. |

Excellent City with lots to do |

This is one of the best hostels I've stayed in: clean; modern; not noisy; fantastic breakfast; friendly staff; and great value for money. Just near the main shopping area of Köln and only about a 30 min walk though there to the Dom and Kölm Hbt (central) station. |

 |
It was fun, but not really to par. It was just a ton of people getting drunk in the streets wearing costume... awesome the first night, but wears thin by the third day. |

went specifically for the rovers v leverkusen match, stayed over a few furthur days for the carnival which was fantastic, well worth a visit. |

Köln Karnaval is one experience in a life !!
Get also to Dusseldörf during Karnaval, the ambiance is more "family like". |
|

 |
We had a blast, and despite the rain the people of Cologne partied hard all night. |

Not a good judge of the city...i was sick the whole time i was there. |

 |
cologne is my favourite city because of the way the most beautiful old buildings sit perfectly alongside modern skyscrapers and the like. the locals are always friendly and the bars are plentiful. and the cathedral is the most awesome thing ever. |

Our group had a lot of fun, the city really does have a lot to offer in terms of sightseeing, nightlife and traditional German culture including a fantastic beer unique to Cologne. |

Great time with friends can be had. Try the Kolsch. |

Fun town, a lot of energy, and a variety of food, things to do and places to stay. I think the Dom-Cathedral is worth a visit alone. It is amazing. I would return for another visit, as I felt one and a half day was not enough. |
|

 |
Cologne is a very beautiful old city. I didn't feel rushed, but I definately think this would have been a better day trip than a weekend trip. Colgone's cathedral is the most stunning part of the city, and the Ludwig Museum is definately worth a visit - there's a great discount for students with positive ID. |

 |
nice place, but dont go in winter its almost depressing and not as much fun as other german cities |
|
|
 |
Great for a weekend away and shopping, very nice cathedral and St. Martin Church, nice weather and many, many shops with gods of affordable prices! Totaly recommended for2-3 days! |
|
|
 |
Go see Cologne! Very liberating for gays and lesbians travelling and for everyone else, too!!! |

i think cologne is a really nice city, great for a weekend away but i would say that a weekend is long enough to take in all the sights. if you plan on climbing the steps of the cathedral then be prepared for a very tireing walk, the steps seem to be never ending and then when you do reach the top there is not much there!! i would reccomend going to the top of the building adjacent to the youth hostel, it's on the path that you take across the bridge to get into the city, the big white building, the views from there are amazing although if you're going to cologne then you do have to climb the steps of the cathedral, also if you're in cologne on a sunday be sure to take a walk down the river bank on the city side of the river where there is a market that stretches a mile down the river |

TO BE VISITED! |

Pretty good place to stay. Receptionists are extremely friendly and the hotel is within 5 minutes of a walk from the underground which you can take to and from the main hauptbahnhof. |
|
|
 |
Great hostel, the guy that works at night is a big you know what though. Everyone else is nice. Otherwise, this place is nicer than 50% of the hotels I stay at! |

There are a ton of churches in Cologne. Be prepared. It's not the most beautiful city I've been to, but it has a lot of history and there are some cool museums there. I didn't partake in any of the partying opportunities, but obviously beer is big there. It's easy to avoid if you want to. |
