Padikkal Residence exists to justify the qualification attributed to Kerala as 'God's Own Country'. Situated in Fort Cochin, the historic town on the west coast, Padikkal Residence offers 10 rooms - 8 with double beds, 1 air conditioned and 1 large suite. Staying in the same building, the Padikkal family extends the legendary hospitality for which India is famous from ancient times - be that be the accommodation, the food or the courtesy extended. The interaction with the Padikkal family offers you an enviable opportunity to learn and experience the traditional values and culture of this coastal town. Arrangements are in place to offer you the local cuisine - for breakfast, lunch or supper. You can ask for a wholesome vegetarian menu, if you so prefer. Or the delicious seafood preparations. Or the famous pork vinthaloo. And if you want to learn the mystery behind these mouth-watering dishes, the ladies of the Padikkal family will gladly enlighten you. Historical landmarks like the St Francis Cathedral where Vasco Da Gama was first buried, the famous Chinese fishing nets, the Santa Cruz Basilica, the Jewish Synagogue, the Dutch Palace and Jew Town famous for the spice trade are all within a radius of a few kilometres. Not fortgetting the age we live in, a broad-band internet connection is available 24 hours. Check out time: 1000 hours. Assistance is provided for onward reservations, sight-seeing trips, boat cruises and trekking expeditions.

(our only recommendation is to give yourself about 2 hours to get to the airport, since you are destine to hit traffic!) Thank you for all to the family! We hope to see you again.close

Our non Ac room was very warm. The owners are friendly and helpful. We enjoyed sitting on the verandah overlooking the road in the early evening and the Keralan breakfasts in the family dining room.

The family was so nice and friendly. It was warm (read: really hot) in Cochin when we were there, and we actually opted not to get AC. Without AC, our room was totally affordable and exactly what we were looking for.

I'm not the kind who usually critics but this was to much. Even beetween the brushes of my tooth brush. A good clean up in the kitchen downstairs would help with some professional help. I'm sad to tell you this because the place is very nice. I ask the others in other rooms and they din't have that problem. So if you go be sure not to take the room over the kitchen.close

2 minutes walk from the main area of fort cochin, so not too noisey. We're going back so we must like it! Owners are very pleasant people.

The family running Padikkal was very accomodating and friendly. I highly recommend this as the place to stay in Cochin. We also enjoyed a fantastic traditional Indian dinner that she spent two hours preparing and it was delicious.
