VIEWS, VIEWS AND MORE VIEWS!! THE 5 VILLAGE WALK WAS WONDERFUL THOUGH EXHAUSTING BUT IT WAS PERFECT DAY. WE STAYED AT RIOGAMMORE AND CAUGHT BOAT TO MONTEROSSA THEN WALKED BACK..PROBABLY HARDER AT START SO GOT IT OVER AND DOWN WITH FIRST SO WE COULD STROLL ALONG FLATTER PATHS IN LAST HOUR..TOOK US 5 HRS WITH A STOP. LOVELY CHARM AND JUST MUST BE ON THE DESTINATION LIST! SO REFRESHING AFTER CITIES AND NOISE AND MUSEUMS OF ITALY....THIS IS THE COASTAL ITALY LIFESTYLE WE AUSTRALIANS ARE HAMPERING FOR! |

i can't say enough about the unspoiled beauty of this place. |

Beautiful surroundings and the most picturesque villages you can imagine. Avoid the holiday season and you'll be rewarded by some easy living. |

I would recommend this site during the off season such as winter. I know a lot of people would prefer the summer since the towns were right up on the beach but it still has so much charm in the winter. Peaceful, quiet, and picturesque- Cinque Terre is a great alternative to the Amalfi COast or Positano-towns that have already been run down with tourists and are probably more expensive. |

Wonderful city. Really beautiful!! great hike. |

Beautiful place for a romantic holiday. Eating out was a bit expensive. For a couple this is one of the best places to travel to. If you combine Cinque Terre with a stay at Genova it's even better because of the mix of sightseeing and culture. |

OK - so the Cinque Terre appears to be known about by a lot of tourists, as I had to get past most of them as they ambled across it on a hot sunny day. The walk is amazing, although don't pay attention to their guidance about easy or not. Between Riomaggiore and Corneglia - easy. The rest - difficult!! SIMPLE!!
The downside - lots of tourists, not a lot of beaches itself, and nothing to do in the evenings especially if a single traveller. Price wise - it is relatively expensive but this is not suprising knowing the area.
Travel is really cheap within the area, and you can go north and south of the Terre's to find beaches, etc.
Use of Italian will really help as a lot of locals do not speak English!! |

This is a really nice place to get away from it all - except for the tourists! It is possible to stay at all the villages but difficult to find information prior to arrival. Just keep looking, emailling and phoning. Lots of rooms advertised to book on arrival. |

Great area to visit, and the national park walk is interesting. If you aren't sure which village to stay in, I would recommend Monterosso as it has a lovely beach which isn't steep like the other villages. |

Stop at the cute little bar/restaurant downtown for afterhours fun! Bar Centrale. The views and water were amazing! Take the hike from Riomaggiore to Monterosso, it is well worth it, also rent kayaks, and paddle around the coastline for another view. Very relaxing vacation! |

I have been there three times now, and can't wait to go back. |

cinque terra is just the most beautiful, relaxed place i have been from my trip so far. its a great break from all the museums and cathedrals i have been seeing lately! the water is so clear!!!! and even better when your swimming in it!
Everything about cinque terra is just great!!! |

cinque terre is so sweet and small and friendly and outdoor lovers will love it |
|
|
 |
it really is as beautiful as everybody tells you |
|

 |
It was a relatively nice hostel, a bit over charged seeing as there was no kitchen, a cerfew and the tiny little breakfast that costs 3 euro wasnt even included!! its not in cinque terre, its more up in the hills but it was very easy to get to and from with a little green bus that does quite a few pick ups and drop offs |
|

 |
the trains are shocking, always delayed, never on time! |
|
|
 |
The food is pricey but the Cinque Terre is a wonderful place. The secret is out. But the towns are well-preserved and clean despite the high tourist traffic. |

One of the most beautiful cities I have been to |

One of the best places I went to. Go hiking between the Terre, play on the beach in Riomaggiore in the warm clear water, watch the sunset, it´s heaven. |
|
|
 |
During the day there is lots to do, the hike between the villages, the beach and overall exploring, but don't expect a huge party at night, just a chillaxing time! |
|

Perfect for hiking and the beach! You can choose to do an all day hike or a smaller one. The towns are beautiful and quaint and the train system is really simple. Nothing to do at night (we were there in the off season), and dining out is semi limited. All in all GREAT weekend! |

What a great collection of 5 little towns. A great place to unwind after traveling through the big cities in Italy. Beatiful, relaxing, charming, etc... I could go on and on but I suggest you see it for yourself. I will definitely return. |

Cinque Terre is a must for all of you who like "active hollidays"... dont go here if you want glitter, night clubbing and sitting around pubs.
But if you like nature walks, excellent food, brilliant nature & scenery, culture and real italian ambient - you've come to the right place. |
|
|
 |
Don't stay here in off season - go to Monterossa instead |
|
|
 |
Cinque Terre was so lovely in the autumn, no big crowds. Some places weren't open because we were off season...but we were there for the scenery, not to shop! |

I am so glad to include Cinque Terre as one of my itinery while touring Italy on my own. It was a safe place for female travelling alone, the locals are very friendly and helpful. The scenery is absolute bliss & calming. If you decided to go there, do the walking trail....its not that easy but the view is breathtaking |

Riomaggiore is a nice small town, the first one of 5. The weather was nice but it rained, beautiful to see the city wet anyway.
Even though Riomaggiore was probably the best place to stay (in Dolce Vita Apartments) for the price and the town itself I fell in love with Monteroso, because it is a little bit bigger and it is nice to see the beach, and the coffee shop by the little square or plaza had the best coffee.
I hope this info was useful.
Cinque Terre it is beautiful!! If I ever comeback again, I will come with more time to go hiking in the mountains. |

Cinque Terra is amazing, the hotel/hostel, was trown together of random fragments, it does the job but its not comfy. Kitchen utensils need to be re-thought |
|

the weather was crap, unfortunately, so there wasn't much hiking to be had. still enjoyed the quaint villages though, and would recommend a visit regardless. |

It's a great place for a hiking or relaxing holiday by the beach. Everyone would enjoy it!
Trail no. 2 next to the sea that connects all 5 villages was breathtaking! Lots of nice and affordable restaurants!
It really is a fantastic place!!! |

one of the most beautiful places in the world!!!! cute villages, georgous cliffs, crystal blue waters....no sandy beaches but cliff diving/climbing was awesome! walk the costal route through the park between all the cities for spectacular views. |

Best place in all of Italy. The hikes are amazing and each town is so unique and beautiful. I absolutely loved it and the water was an indescribable color of blue that you have to see to believe! |

Great views even with overcast skies. |

Cinque Terre is an absolute MUST, it is incredibly beautiful!!! You think you've seen the most beautiful thing and then you turn the side of the mountain and its even more beautiful! |

truly one of the most beautiful places on earth |

Cinque Terre was recommended by many friends...all that they had told us was true. Amazing coast line and great local foods. This stop in Italy was a great vacation spot with a few beaches for a picnic lunch. Tourists seem to be taking over the area, but a great break nonetheless! |

The most beautiful stop on my backpacking trip. The food is amazing, especially the seafood. Spectacular wine, the local kinds being awesome for the price. Hiking through the 5 Terre was one of the best of such things I have ever done. |

What an amazing place. Really relaxing and beautiful and somewhat 'off the beaten path'. To me this was quintessential Italy. Easygoing, friendly people, good food, beautiful views. |

Cinque Terre is an awesome area to go to for a weekend get away. The five towns are small and all very charming, but they all look pretty similar. We stayed in Riomaggiore which was a beautiful town and I loved the beautiful rocky cliffs and the water views, but there was definitely more of a night life and more to do in say Vernazza or Monterosa. There is pretty easy hiking and more difficult hiking, plus a train that easily connects all of the towns, so it can accomodate any level. Beautiful views! |

Walk is beautiful but pretty tough. Be prepared with lots of water and god shoes. Rooms are ok. 7 beds in a 10x10 room. Good kitchen. The walk up to reception is uphill and the walk up to the rooms is about 40 steps... just a warning. |

 |
the cinque terra is a must on anyones travel list. you will not regret going there. the local seafood is awesome and i recommed you eat out at least once. the tirramisu is the best i have ever tasted (from riomaggiore) and the pesto is a specialty there. |

Loved Cinque Terre. Breathtaking! Heart Stopping! Highly recommend it! |

Visit all the towns and take the hikes between Corniglia and Montorossa for good views (I like Vernazza the best). We booked for one night, and then since we told them we'd stay longer if we liked it, I think they gave us a way better deal than if we had booked it all ahead of time (we did, however, go in late April so things weren't totally full yet). A great place to chill, especially after furious visits to Rome and Florence. |

Getting an apartment in Cinqe Terre is a mix between online dating and gambling. Everyone puts up their best pictures and you never know what you gonna get.
I was very lucky to get an apartment in Riomaggiorre where we didnt need to do a mountain hike to get to it. I stayed with 4 people, I was the only one who prebooked and ended up paying a bit more than the others. Thats just the way the cookie crumbles. We had a kitchen and real quick access to the main street.
There\'s no dorms, its more like apartments with as many beds as they can stuffed into them. So be prepared for spare beds to be taken by people when you least expect it. So long as your up for the backpack experience, you\'ll have fun.
Cinqe Terre was my fav place that I visited and I would book with Aff again, knowing full well what I may or may not get. |

I stayed in the first town, Riomaggiore, and it is such a cute little town. The hiking here is incredible and if your a fan of hiking near the beach- this is the place to go. It was quite a work out and time consuming but extremely worth it. Any town is worth visiting and worth staying in. The last town Monterosso is the biggest town but I enjoyed all 5 towns. As for other things like shopping and partying- didn\'t do much of either so can\'t really give much details. But if you have good weather while there you\'re going to have the best time here. |

Cinque Terre is well worth a visit. It\'s a beautiful area, and the traditional walk between the towns is very pleasant - though I wouldn\'t worry about Monterosso, the furthest one. Give it a full day for the walk and a couple of nights for eating out, and you\'ll enjoy yourself. |

I was placed in a cute apartment with a full kitchen and a washing machine. It was charming, clean, very comfortable, and extremely close to the hiking paths. I was there in late December and had the whole place to myself most nights. I highly recommend this hostel. |

Just stayed here for 3 nights...
For: Good location right in centre near station etc. Genuine old local building with steep stairs. Very clean and fairly quiet. fridge.
Against: Ninety euro for a double with bathroom is welll over priced for what you get. Not a nice building. View of other peoples windows. No balcony. No breakfast. Hot water that cannot cope with more than one person in the building having a shower. Uninspiring room/decor.
We wouldn\'t go there again - this isn\'t the local family run, friendly establishment you may be looking for.
However, if you can get the room for sixty euro\'s or less that would be a fair price. |
