Looking for the perfect place to take a step back from all the crowds, rushing around viewing churches, museums and monuments? Attention: Please note that our reception is only open until 5pm every night. We can not check in guests after this time. Check out at 10:00 AM Payment only in cash. Mar-Mar offers dormitory-style accommodations in the Cinque Terre with a difference, offering you a slower pace of life that has changed little over hundreds of years. Local residents still maintain some of their traditional livelihoods of fishing and wine making, living on the steep rugged hillsides along the Cinque Terre coastline. Riomaggiore is the southernmost village of the 'five lands', making it an ideal place to begin your exploration of the Cinque Terre National Park and the famous hiking trails. This is the ultimate location to relax with the locals, take some time out and experience the authentic rural Italian lifestyle. Mar-Mar has traditional rooms and apartments, full of character and home comforts, right alongside those of the locals so you feel part of the community right from the beginning. Attention: Please note that our reception is only open until 5pm every night. We can not check in guests after this time. Check out at 10:00 AM Explore the remainder of the villages at your own pace either on foot or by train. Take some locally made wine down to the rocks and watch the sunset over the med, or enjoy a meal made with fresh local ingredients at one of the many little osterias. If you are a hiker, mountain biker or just want to switch off and chill out by the sea, Mar-Mar in Riomaggiore has the laid back atmosphere you just might be craving.

Nice small hostel with excellent access to the Cinque Terra. More like a big apartment with kitchen and bathroom than a hostel as you don't see the staff much. Would recommend for a budget option in Cinque Terra.

Great place to stay...but specify if you dont want to stay in the larger dorm rooms. It is the same price to stay in a 4 bed as it is 9. The fold out beds are ok. If you are a 'big person' you wont fit in the shower I had!

Ended up in a room directy over a bar so VERY noisey till early hours. Also was in a four bed share and our two beds were in the dinning/kitchen area. There is plenty of sorces of accomodation about there so wouldnt recommend MARMAR at all.

The Cinque Terre is amazing - just go! The rooms don't really matter, but this place had an excellent location and a kitchen for cooking, which was very handy.

Really depends which room they give you in this hostel, some are very very good, some arent. I had an amazing room, very spacious, extremely clean (was cleaned everyday), very very helpful staff. Couldn't have asked for anything better in the cinque terre, i'd stay there again definitely!

Perfect place to stay. Great location. Only thing is that the bathrooms need to be a bit cleaner and they need to fix the doors on the shower. But I would recommend it to anyone.

We originally booked a 12 share hostel room and ended up only having to share with 2 others. Was fantastic. Located in the first of the 5 towns - Mar Mar was value for money, staff were helpful and the rooms were clean and comfortable. Have already recommended this to friends!

The unit that we were put in was very clean and spacious! Thankfully we had backpacks, becasue I am sure it was 100 stairs to get to the front door from the train station. Excelent location and the staff was pleasant.

Great location! More like an apartment, small and homey which makes it easy to mix with other travellers. We were lucky enough to score our own separate room which was a bonus, only negative is that 2 out of the 10 beds are actually fold out beds. Very clean too!

The floors were dusty, shower curtain was gross, but those were the only minor points. It was nice to have an apartment to stay in, and the location can't be beat.

Great location right out of the Riomaggiore train station tunnel. No lockers in rooms. Great view of the sea from your room, and it's unique walking through the alleyways to get to your room. Keep an eye out for Rick Steves' Christmas card bulletin board in lobby area!
