Santiago is a good value for backpackers and a nice break from all the outdoor activities that Chile has to offer. ATMs, restaurants, and clubs are common. Cinemas offer English-language movies and are very cheap.

Santiago isn\'t really a party city like Buenos Aires or Rio, but it definitely has it\'s charms. Whether climbing Santa Lucia Hill, or taking the funicular - Or having a night out at Bellavista or Dancing in Blondie at 4am.. it has something for all.

Bellavista is a good central base, with loads of character, that I´d recommend staying in if you´re in Santiago.

An amazing trip around Santiago, Los Andes and Viña del Mar. A lot of places to visit and have fun. The greatest problem: FOOD. Although we didn´t like it very much, they have excelent wines.

I stayed there for about three days and must say that I was surprised in positive. I sort of expected a typical big city and actually found a very agreable, charming place. It reminds me a bit at the farniente feeling you got in Barcelona. So it may be that you don\'t find touristical… more

Santiago is a great city for those who love art and design. The suburb of Barrio Bellavista is packed with graf art, design, street murals and is near the university.

Not a lot to do in the city, just another latin american capital, the best thing to do is take shuttle buses to areas just outside the city, that is where the fun is. The smog is a pain!

Highly recommended, we are a couple 36 and 43 years old, and didn\'t feel out of place like in some hostels, even though plenty of youngsters staying here. Get as involved or not as you like in the partying.
