If you have some spare time when visiting Chicago its definitely worth a trip up to Evanston, take the purple line and get off at Davis, ‘The Celtic Knot’ located on Church Street across from the Evanston Public Library is a fantastic pub and restaurant, the staff are very welcoming and most nights they have live music in the pub, nice atmosphere, great food, you just have to visit! |

As you walk through the stark white and glass lobby of the Hotel Sax (formerly the House of Blues Hotel), entering the Crimson Bar is a stark contrast with its dark, gothic look with a black floor, very subdued lighting, and red velvet furniture. The cool factor hits you right away.
Rather than just an open expanse the area is divided by hanging curtains, set-backs for semi-private seating, and one room which is very private and intimate.
The wait staff are super-attentive when they come to your table, which isn't often. The bartenders appear more focused on being hip than in actually serving you but when they do the drinks are well-constructed. |
