Most of the tourist and locals sleep all day due to the heat. You get up late afternoon eat, shop, drink, talk and go back to bed to do it all over again the next day. The majority of the locals (vendors/taxi/tours ect) really tend to try their hardest at ripping off the tourist whenever they can. Make sure you get prices on what you should be paying for EVERY THING before you go out or you may end up paying much much much more than you should.close

Golden triangle is nothing special but merely a far view of 3 different countries from a boat ride in Mae Kong river. We put so much hope on seeing the poppy plant but the man that we hired told us that there is no more poppy plant to see in Thailand. I am not sure if what he told is true, as my some other friends still saw the plantation last year. He gave me the impression that he wished to rush back to Chiang Mai ASAP after we have paid him 5500 B for that day. I really disappointed with that, what's the point of travelling so far just to see the 'Golden Triangle' which is basically nothing to see? The man is actually the taxi driver that picked us up from the airport with green car plate. We hired him based on his impressive car condition and his ability to speak fluent english. Please advise if it is true, if so, where should I go if I want to see the poppy plant?close

Also a great place and cheapest do a cooking course, we used Pad Thai school, they were great fun and we learned a lot, just don't have breakfast before you go as you get to eat the food you eat, we didn't eat again until the following day. Great night market in Chang Mai on a Sunday night. You can party in Chang Mai but not around the old fort area. Food is cheap here, all in all great value for money in this area.close

Difficult to find some decent nightlife (unless you want to hang out with prostitutes) but the night bazaar will keep you entertained in the evening if you like shopping..they have it all! buy a raincoat and go for it!close

We loved this place! The staff are very friendly. Hopefully you get to meet the chef, she's woderful and her food is amazing! We ate there almost every night for dinner. They play loud music in the restaurant so if you prefer quiet, just request a room on one of the top floors. The location is...

This place is extremely clean, great breakfast and help to plan trips and what not. Very honest. Nine was the nicest lady we met in Thailand (I heard multiple travelers say this). The rooms are amazing and there is a nice deck to hang out on at night if that's what you want.

If travellers are seeking a quiet and beautiful place with wonderful food, Dao Nest is super. I stayed in Nest 2 where the Thai food was outstanding, the staff accomodating and pleasant and the surrounding outdoors wonderful. I did not use the guide services but instead did a walking tour to...

Beautiful location in nature, and not so far from Chiang Mai (1.5 hours on bus, and short taxi ride). There are trails nearby for hiking, and you can rent bikes. The huts are basic, but clean and very rustic. The food is tasty and reasonably priced (tourist prices, but not outrageous).

Top Rated Chiang Mai Attractions

  1. Elephant Trek100%

I would highly reccommend doing this, my favourite part of my Thailand trip. Different degrees of difficulty depending on how fit you are! We did a 3 day 2 night trek, it's more walking than elephants, we only saw them on the last day. But seeing the jungle and being in the group is really good fun!
