There are shops and services to please the western palatte, as well a good value Chinese stores and restaurants (although to be honest, we didn't eat out much). Chengdu serves as a gateway to Sichuan provice and Tibet, and has many interesting sites in and around the city. It rained while we were there, but there can't be sunshine all the time, and there was only a moderate amount of pollution. The travellers that we met in Chengdu were laid back and great to hang out with.close

unfortunately its a long way out of the city centre but even so this is a really good hostel, the 300 bus from the airport is also easy to get and cheap!

6Excellent. Very nice patio where you can sit out. Only drawback is it is a little way out of town

GreenTree Hotel Chengdu Peoples Park Hotel 86%
Great location! Employees dont speak too much English but they are friendly and they try hard to meet all of your needs. Rooms are clean and comfortable. Excellent place for families, or if you are looking for something a little nicer than a hostel. And still cheap!

The Loft Backpacking Hostel 85%
For the price this is the best hostel in China (after 18 months in China). And still one of the best regardless of price. Directions to the hostel would help though!!
