It's easy to get around and if you are fond of soup in a bowl and lots of meat then the lack of good places to eat wont bother you too much.close

If you're tired of the touristy hustle and bustle of Prague head south to the picturesque Cesky Krumlov, Ok it's about 4 hours on the train, but it is worth it. The village doesn't seem to have changed in the past 100 years, overlooked by the most impressive castle I've seen...more If you're tired of the touristy hustle and bustle of Prague head south to the picturesque Cesky Krumlov, Ok it's about 4 hours on the train, but it is worth it. The village doesn't seem to have changed in the past 100 years, overlooked by the most impressive castle I've seen in Czech Rep and surrounded by the meandering river, this is a lovely place to kick back and get some well earned R&R. May not be your cup of tea if you're looking for clubbing central, but for restaurants, good beer, and plenty of 'authentic' shops this is a must.close

Cesky Krumlov is THE single most beautyful small town in Central Europe. It is lying in a marvellous geographic scenery within green mountains on a double S curve of the Vltava river. It is lying in a marvellous geographic scenery within green mountains on a double S curve of the Vltava river. Given its unique place you can really feel yourself like being 500 years behind, from the old town, and the castle the views of the city does not contain anything which would disturb the historic feeling (except some signs for the very limited traffic). Despite the old town is small (maybe 300 meters wide?), it contains everything what makes a town, including a giant castle, nice river with a lot of funny bridges, 4 bier factories, two of them still alive, watermill, old pubs and so on. If you are in Czech or Austria, give it a day to check out.close

The rates were very reasonable and you could really get a Czech experience. There were plenty of bars staying open late if you are into the party scene, and plenty of authentic, and more modern shops to browse in. There were plenty of bars staying open late if you are into the party scene, and plenty of authentic, and more modern shops to browse in. There were sights famous to the town and plenty of beautiful hikes to take if you just wanted the view. The town was small so walking everywhere was easy and of course, affordable! There were great produce markets and grocery stores if you wanted to make your own dinner, but also authentic Czech restaurants where they grill your food over an open fire!!! Hostel Skippy provided a place to just hang with a cup of coffee and a book, and in town there were tons of cafes to do the same!close

Cute little town. We stayed 2 nights, prob 1 night too many. Be careful when booking tours through the Information Centre, both of ours got cancelled on the day of tour. Great vegetarian restaurant (Laiboo?) - food yummy and good price but the place odd with NO atmosphere and we had to hunt down...more Cute little town. We stayed 2 nights, prob 1 night too many. Be careful when booking tours through the Information Centre, both of ours got cancelled on the day of tour. Great vegetarian restaurant (Laiboo?) - food yummy and good price but the place odd with NO atmosphere and we had to hunt down a waiter! Take the shuttle bus to Linz - a bargain at 499 and only takes 1.5 hours.close

i heard about cesky in my travels and i am so glad i decided to go. stayed 4 night sbut gcould of stayed a week. i went horseriding, rafting and partying the whole time. Cesky Krumlov was a lovely place to come and relax for a few days. The castle and old town are very picturesque, but not too overcrowded with tourists. We spent a day canoeing on the vlatva, which was really good fun, and also took a day trip to the sumava national park on the train and did some...more Cesky Krumlov was a lovely place to come and relax for a few days. The castle and old town are very picturesque, but not too overcrowded with tourists. We spent a day canoeing on the vlatva, which was really good fun, and also took a day trip to the sumava national park on the train and did some hiking. We ate out every night and had fabulous food at bargain prices. All in all a brilliant place to visit.close

Cesky Krumlov is so lovely. Its a small town and so its so easy to relax and chill out here but there is everything the tourist could want- canoe trips, bike hire, good restaurants, swimming in the river, theatre, cinema and historic sightseeing too. I would highly recomend visiting it. Laibon...more Cesky Krumlov is so lovely. Its a small town and so its so easy to relax and chill out here but there is everything the tourist could want- canoe trips, bike hire, good restaurants, swimming in the river, theatre, cinema and historic sightseeing too. I would highly recomend visiting it. Laibon restaurant is healthy vegetarian food at its best and in beautiful surroundings at the foot of the castle and next to the river.close
