The bathroom was always wet both in the floor and around the sink because of bad construction. And the windows did not close very well, making me freeze at night.

The room was quite large but there was no a/c so it was boiling. The bathroom and communal areas were also a bit skanky.

We were double booked on our fourth night so we came home to our gear in garbage bags in the lobby even though we had confirmed our departure as the following day that morning. They helped find new accomodation but still think this is a bit rude.

Great big spacious old house with lots of room. Good security needing to be buzzed in. Only complaint was my room was above the pool and it could get a little noisy at night and there were a lot of mosquitos

This was a great hostel. The security was great by Africa standards. The location was not the best. The waterfront was a 15 minute walk away. The night life (which is fantastic in Cape town) is a short taxi ride away. They seemed well connected to the tourist routes in S. Africa and could book...

The owner, Guido, initially comes across as quite aloof but once you spend some time with him he is a sound guy. Fantastic Hostel, fresh towels, clean rooms, great staff. Showed us around, gave us a map and circled where to go and where NOT to go. Great for travellers on their own to meet people at the bar. Close (10 Mins walk) to the V+A waterfront and can even walk to Long Street (20 mins)!

Staff were often drunk around the Bar. First night we got there they were quite drunk, swearing and yelling abuse at each other. Made it very uncomfortable and not a good environment. Treated as a number more than a guest.

I did't know who worked at the backpackers. You hear every kind of noise, from the bell to people who walk from the bedroom to the bathroom. The room was okay, but not that special. The location is excellent. It is only 15 minutes walk to the waterfront!
