Really nice hostel on the outskirts of the city center. Easy to taxi everywhere, and have a good airport pickup.

we stayed in on of the guest houses. it was quite dark getting there but a security guard helped us. The room smelt a bit funny initially but the beds were very comfortable. The Bar in the main hostel was awesome!

the room that I was (64 ??) was intolerable I am afraid and I checked out early. There may be people who can cope with blaring music until 12.30 and then inccessant banging doors for the next hour or so but I think that you should ask first !

It was a pretty nice stay at Ashanti. Only one thing was not good. I had to pay an extra fee for using my credit card. In Germany that´s forbidden!

Clean, private double bedrooms with a good sized swimming pool just 2 metres from the door to my room were an added bonus . All this with the magnificent backdop of Table Mtn while eating breakfast on the wooden patio, made this a very special hostel to stay at. Add to this a host of staff who seemed to be constantly keeping the property clean and tidy. Situated in a quiet residential neighbourhood but only a 10 minute walk from the bustle of Long street, Ashanti Lodge was, for me, the perfect place to spend a week away. I will be back !!!close

I had a fabulous time here. The hostel has such a relaxed atmosphere that it's easy to just spend the whole time chilling out but luckily I got to do most of what I wanted to in Cape Town as well. If I come back to Cape Town any time I'm sure I'll be back.

I belive that this Hostel has a bad case of bed bugs. I stayed on 2 occasions and was bitten very badly both times in different rooms. I spoke to lots of people who had also been bitten considerably whilst staying there. I hope that this can get sorted out as I would not recommend the Hostel to...

The location was super. I found the staff was very involved with beeing cool. Fun is irelevant for a hostel - i pay to sleep there! Better ask how to quality of the bed/nights sleep is etc. Ashanti has great potential, use it! (Probably I am too old for a hostel)

Ashanti has a great array of good points ,yet, the music by the pool is on 10 or 12 hours a day,it's a nightmare,we need a quiet time by the pool,to read, chat, have dinner in peace.I don't understand this need to have noise and music in all the nice areas of the lodge.

We got our car window smashed in front of Guest House 2, same happened to someone elses car two weeks later. This happened despite the fact that we left nothing in the car that could have been stolen. Some staff was very friendly while some wasnt at all. We loved Cape Town and had a great time. The get- togethers at the bar where not as exciting as in some other backpackers we've seen along the Garden Route. They offered great value meals for dinner as well as drinks.close

I would recommend Ashanti to anyone - best hostel I have ever stayed in. The facilities were second to none and the staff were amazing. We were just there on a 2 week holiday but given the choice I wouldnt have stayed anywhere else. Really friendly place to stay too especially because of the bar.
