Very friendly, but... we stayed there in a private room for six nights, complained about the very broken toilet seat on the first night, and it was never fixed. Poor effort. Still, great location and price.

Couldn't have asked for a better location or better staff (thanks for all the advice on things to do and tour set-ups, Darko!). We felt like old friends by the time we left and even came back for a second stay weeks later. Hot showers with great water pressure, very clean, very accommodating. We...

The evening manager was very helpful and knowledgable, the owner (day manager) seemed disorganized and stressed. There was also an english/scottish woman who appeared to be living/working there who was extremely pushy and abrasive. I would go back there, but be prepared to have a pushy lady in...

Abantu is one of the best backpackers I ever went to. It is in Long Street that means it's near from all the bars, restaurants, markets and shops. It's safe and clean and the staff is .. perfect!! and sexy! :-) I would recommend it to everybody!

Consider this a 'last resort' hostel. Good access to Long Street Bars and clubs but there are others! This hostel is small, dirty and had a cockroach problem. The kitchen is really dirty. Good for a 1 nighter if you have no where else to go, otherwise go else where. Only plus was the manager was...

I LOVED Abantu!! The staff were extremely helpful and just generally lovely! The hostel was a really cute little place. Only critisism is the sewage smell, but the incense helped that. I would definitely stay there again!
