We really enjoyed our stay at the Tanguera Hostel, especially the staff made it a memorable experience, always beeing in a good mood and helping us in every way possible. The hostel is in a great location in San Telmo, close to the center of Buenos Aires and the building is old and charming. Lena...

This place is FANTASTIC. Really, I've been travelling now for nearly 11 months and I got one of the top 5 sleeps of my whole trip. Such a beautiful building and spotlessly clean! Fantastic staff too! Perfect place to recharge the batteries!

Lovely characterful building. Staff very friendly. Showers reflect age of building but plenty of hot water. Well located for San Telmo area. Great common room and good breakfast. Very slow internet but it is free. Would gladly go back again.

Really great place but the mosquitos were out of control... don't know why, because that wasn't the case at other places. Aside from that, it was a really charming place.

Loved this place, tranquility in a crazy cool city. Bathroom isn't great - shower in middle of shared area, no lock just shower curtain, the second shower is separated. Apart from that, bueno!

Very friendly staff that went out of their way to make me feel at home. They spoke little English but were so friendly and helpful with my one day of Spanish speaking that there was no language barrier. My single room was small but clean and comfortable, and quiet. I'd come back here for sure.

BUT - they set me up at an excellent hostel nearby, La Posta De Dorrego, and were extremely kind about rectifying the mistake. La Posta De Dorrego, at the intersection of Belgrano & Piedras, was a humble, family-run inn that was extremely accommodating. Staying there was an experience in becoming a part of the La Posta family, as the owner and his son, along with short and long-term residents, are quick to be social and integrate you into the laid-back San Telmo lifestyle. All in all, I'd recommend both places - and San Telmo especially as a location - in which to stay in Buenos Aires.close

This is a very well run hostel but it is not a "party place". It seems to appeal to a somewhat older crowd. It has a very attractive public room and stairway.

The hostel was better than I expected. Pictures on the website don't do it justice as it is a very nice heritage property with very friendly service. Oscar was excellent. Single room was a little cramped and hot and breakfast could be improved with some muesli but otherwise a lovely stay.

Good small hostel with very friendly and helpful English speaking staff. Right in San Telmo. The basic single room is small and on a hot Buenos Aires night is very stuffy.
