I really liked this guest house. It was close to everything, was comfortable, clean, and I like that it was more like an apartment than rowdy hostel. Agnes was super helpful when I checked in and gave me recommendations of things to do while in the city.

We stayed in the 2 person ensuite, shared bathroom, which was a great, 2 bedroom, full apartment separate from the rest of the hostel. Excellent location, and lovely little place. The woman working was very nice and very helpful.

Nice kitchen, clean big bathroom with hot water! and nice rooms too, quite clean. Towels and sheets are provided. We just had a little problem : a few days after my booking : the manager e-mailed me that he finally had a booking (previous to mine...) for a big group and so he couldn't take us for the last night. He found another hostel for us but we lost our deposit... Anyway, we had nice time there!close

The guesthouse itself is basic budget accommodation, but everything you need it to be - clean, warm, accessible and there's a kitchen area with cooker, microwave and fridge. The building is old and dilapidated-looking (my friend said it was 'Room with a View'-esque!) but the appartment is lovely - well-decorated. As it's so small, the guesthouse isn't staffed the majority of the time but this isn't a problem as you get given keys to the building. Checking out is a bit unconventional as there's not necessarily someone there at the time but it worked fine for us. In all, Origo Guesthouse is definitely worht a look - a great place to stay if you're looking for somewhere quiet, but in a good location and at an excellent budget price. We'd highly recommend it.close

The staff of Origo sent a e-mail to us and said that there were some problems from the hostel world, wishing us to share a four bed room. And they promised to give us a speicial price for 10 Euro instead of 15(alought a four bed room cost 10 Euro per personat the begining.) So we agreed to change our resevation with our friends. When we arrived, they asked us to pay about 2450 HUF(10Euro per person per night.) We already paid 6.41 Euro for a double room for 2 days on the hostel world . But they still insisted us to pay 10 Euro for each person. They said that the 6.14 Euro deposit is for hostel world not for them, so we had to pay it again. That really made me uncomfortable while staying in Origo. And on the last when we are about to check out, none of the staffs were there. We would like to leave our laggauge there but were afraid if no one can open the door for us. Finally we should leave the door open, being afraid if our laggauge would be safe.close

The owner told us of an "accidental" overbooking of all three rooms, as he "misread" the month of April for May. Seeing that it was Easter and many rooms were booked, we followed him to a place he recommended (that he used "all the time"). The place was a dump. We were charged the same price (towels not included), received a roll for breakfast, and getting in and out of the hotel was a constant problem. The hotel was topped off with a large Hungarian woman who led us by the hand to pay before the stay was over. Needless to say, the romantic holiday was spent in a room squeezed with four single beds (booked one double) and a bathroom big enough for a toddler. The ceiling was high, but it could not escape the holes in the wall and the paper thin blankets. Do not stay here.close
