This place boasts the best ‘Moules et Frites’ (Mussels and Fries) in Brussels and I’d have to agree after testing the theory here versus some other places! The waiter was so nice and genuine and looked after us like we were VIPs, but didn’t overdo it at the same time!
It’s super value for lunch at €13.50 for a huge bowl of Mussels, Fries on the side and a beer. It was probably one of the best places we ate in. It has nice cheerful décor and a relaxed vibe and even thought it is close to Grand Place and full of tourists, it was certainly no rip off and I’d highly recommend it. |

Here you can sit back, relax and absorb the history of this authentic Belgian café. I tried the famous ‘house tipple’ which is called ‘Half & Half’ – half white wine, half champagne. Very tasty.
The whole place is maintained in old Belgian style and is really nice to while away a few hours in the afternoon, which is exactly what we did.
The waiters are smartly dressed in black and white including black tie, and are very pleasant and efficient. You’ll find a mix of locals and tourists in here. Perfect for people watching! |

Absolutely a delicious portuguese restaurant in the Ixelles quarter in Brussels; the place can look "strange" from outside but go in and try it and you will not be disappointed; the owner it's an old portoguese man who speaks a micture of language, have a chat with him it's an amazing experience. |

Really good Italian restaurant near place de la Madeleine (one of the heart of the nightlife in Brussels); you can eat delicious pastas here and drink tasty italian wine; you can have dinner and lunch also in the garden. Each day, and between 6pm and 8.30pm you can taste some Italian specialities to accompany your aperitif. Have a chat with the two owner, they are really friendly and nice. |

This little bistro style restaurant on the Place Ste Catherine is my 'local'. The food is an excellent mix of Franco-Belgian cuisine with nods to other traditions as well. Often innovative without being outrageous or silly, the value-for-money quotient here is very high in my opinion. The menu changes regularly in keeping with the season. Pleasant terrace in summer with a view of the square and church. In a city of many excellent restaurants, this one is a little gem. |

If you like fish, then head for La Marée on the rue de Flandre. This restaurant is run by a Portuguese couple and the food is second to none, especially the fish and mussels. The place is quite small and fills up fast so reserving is recommended. Pleasant staff and lively atmosphere - favoured by many locals |

Like many westerners, I know that Chinese food is one of the great cuisines of the world. For me, Vietnamese and Thai food fall into the same category. Unlike western food, however, where I can judge what is cheap and cheerful home cooking versus various levels of more sophisticated restaurant food, with Chinese etc I am at a loss to really know if what is on my plate is authentic or even considered good by the Chinese/Vietnamese/Thai themselves. Western oriental restaurants all seem pretty much the same and seem to offer the exact same things, no matter where you go.
Little Asia, however, is different. Here I do see a difference in terms of quality - the presentation is that little bit classier, the food still simple and quite obviously Asian but the flavours and dishes are more sophisticated and subtle. Wonderful soups and starters (excellent crab claws for example) and lovely main courses, including an unusual dish of mackerel seasoned with lemongrass and turmeric, which is a real treat. The decor is classy and the service impeccable. If you like Vietnamese food, you'll love Little Asia. |

Was only here for an hour or so but could've stayed for the entire night. It's a bit of an institution in the city and is open years. If you do go make sure to have a 'half and half', a mix of white wine and champagne. |

This is a local brasserie restaurant in the trendy Antoine Dansaert-Ste Catherine area. The decor is simple and unassuming. The food is very good, old fashioned franco-belgian, cooked to a high standard. Typical dishes include chicken liver salad in a raspberry flavoured sauce, shrimp croquettes, excellent meat dishes and fish at weekends mostly. The staff is friendly as well, not a given these days, alas. Highly recommended for lunch. |

The Bocconi restaurant is located in the five star Hotel Amigo, just behind the Grand' Place, so you can imagine here you are not coming here for a cheap and cheerful trattoria experience.. It is a place to push the boat out, for a special occasion but well worth it. The décor is refined, the front of house team and waiters all very professional and the food really excellent. Don't expect old fashioned spaghetti bolognese here: the pasta dishes are inventive and delicious, as you'd expect from a top Italian chef. Not the cheapest meal you're ever likely to have, but probably one of the nicest. |
