Like many westerners, I know that Chinese food is one of the great cuisines of the world. For me, Vietnamese and Thai food fall into the same category. Unlike western food, however, where I can judge what is cheap and cheerful home cooking versus various levels of more sophisticated restaurant...
more restaurant food, with Chinese etc I am at a loss to really know if what is on my plate is authentic or even considered good by the Chinese/Vietnamese/Thai themselves. Western oriental restaurants all seem pretty much the same and seem to offer the exact same things, no matter where you go.
Little Asia, however, is different. Here I do see a difference in terms of quality - the presentation is that little bit classier, the food still simple and quite obviously Asian but the flavours and dishes are more sophisticated and subtle. Wonderful soups and starters (excellent crab claws for example) and lovely main courses, including an unusual dish of mackerel seasoned with lemongrass and turmeric, which is a real treat. The decor is classy and the service impeccable. If you like Vietnamese food, you'll love Little Asia.
