more of the fish restaurants in the street have a solid reputation for good food, some even having very pleasant terraces for dining al fresco when the weather is good, what sets Bij Den Boer apart in my view is the overall quality of the cooking, the freshness of the ingedients, the traditional brasserie 'feel' of the place and the owners' classic approach to preparing fish – no frills or fussiness, just honest to goodness cooking. Generous portions of excellently prepared food in a pleasant setting. It can get very crowed (and a little noisy) but that is usually the sign of a place getting things right, I suppose. Reservation essential, especially at weekends.
