Very quiet place. Not fun to stay on a top level due to difficult, winding stairs, and no elevator.

A cozy shophouse in a little street. Manneken Pis is just a stone throw away. Clean. Owner is friendly. Just take note that there is no lift, got to carry the luggage up the sprial staircase.

The staff at La Vieille Lanterne was very helpful and kind! It is a very nice spot, very close to what should be seen in Brussels, including the very cute Manneken Pis, which is just around the corner. It is spotless, but not a place to meet people. I recommend!

There is nothing bad to say about this hostel. The lady was really nice and helpful. Our room was perfect, we had a really comfortable double bed, tv, and a great view. The shower hit the spot. Best of all was the location and the breakfast in bed.

Excellent location, clean small hotel. Beds were very soft and squishy - mattresses need an upgrade. Staff friendly and helpful.

Great location and decent rooms at a reasonable price. Our only complaint was that our train left early so we were unable to get our breakfast which was included in the price.

It's also within walking distance of most advertised Brussels attractions (but bring an umbrella if you intend to do a lot of walking). The staff were helpful, breakfast was on time and everyone was basically nice enough. The downside of this hotel though is that the windows were too thin, and they aren't soundproof. So you can't really sleep until around 12 AM because of all the people talking in the street and taking pictures of the Manneken Pis, and you get woken up at around 8 AM by the Brussels City cleaning crews' machines. In February, it also tends to get a bit cold at night even with the heater turned all the way up.close

Probaly the most attractive feature is the location, which is about 1 min walk from the Grand Place and on a lovely and quite quiet street. It was a lovely, clean room with a windowbox and flowers! As it is so small the owners bring the breakfast up to you at an agreed time each morning and it is so much nicer than having to stumble downstairs grumpy. The owners were lovely, spoke perfect English could not have been more courteous. Both my girlfriend and I loved Brussels and when we come back we will certainly stay at the La Vielle Lanterne over any other Hotel in the City.close

A very well kept hotel in a fantastic location. Rooms are small and basic but very clean. The rooms are a little noisy as they face the front street and have no double glazing, but for a weekend break its perfect.
