After staying there it’s just too unbelievable that people could write such positive reviews. It’s either her or her eclectic friends. There are 43 reviews in TripAdvsior.com and most of them are negative. How is it that the majority is exactly what we experienced and the few nice ones are so unbelievable, so far from the truth that they can not be the truth! Just as fraudulent as the website that shows incredible photos of small areas that in the right lighting look enticing but wait till you get there and see the real story… You are greeted by 2 large and loud dogs barking. Then the darling child who has never been taught any manners especially that screaming constantly at the top of your voice is not acceptable. Having read other reviews I am not surprised to hear guests have been bitten. When you arrive she points up stairs and say's your room is on the xxx floor, forget about taking you to your room, the reason?...it’s too far up. It’s a very old home and the narrow stairway goes up and up, 6 flights of stairs (2 per floor). The decoration on the surface looks OK until you realize these are not antiques but just plain old bad quality furniture. The establishment is clearly the case of a person in it purely for the money. Light fixtures are installed with bare wires hanging from the ceilings. Plumbing is bad and during our stay the ceiling leaked from the room above. The whole place is not clean and if Brussels has some kind of licensing bureau she must have paid them off. Breakfast includes OK bread with Kraft slices, an old tub of margarine (no butter available), soy something instead a yogurt. The dogs are present at breakfast to lick cutting boards off the counter and paw you begging for food (don’t wear nice clothes at breakfast). I have stayed at B&B's around the world and for the money this is the biggest disappointment I have ever had. This place is an out and out rip-off. The website is not reality, if you read this DON’T GO.close

Little expensive, but everything in Brussels is...Very nice B&B to stay for a weekend. Subway service makes it close to the center.

Fingerprint security at B&B front door, which is cool but no locks/security on any bedroom doors. Toilet very small, but bathroom big and has laundry facilities.

Karin was so accomodating, with personal touch and so nice. Prepared the breakfast by herself for everyone. Wasn't able to use the wifi from my room but she let me use her pc to check my mails. The room was so nice, you can barely hear the other guests as well.

Was an absolute lovely home, well worth the money. Rooms were cosy. Breakfast was fantastic!! Hostess was an absolute delite as well as her daughter and dogs. Would definately recommend this if you have a little extra cash. good location very close to botanic gardens and comic book musuem.

Don't expect a normal hostel situation here. It's actually a guys house and he rents out fully furnished rooms to travelers. Essentially it felt more like I was staying at an Uncle's house than a hotel/hostel. Nice, but a little more personal than I expected.

It is a very comfortable hostel and Patrick the guy who was attending was very polite and made me feel like home. All was very quiet.

This place was great, only downside was the location. Its close to the city but still a fair walk. We loved it, if your looking for character and to see the real Brussels then book this place fast. owner was amazing and made us breakfast each morning.

The Phileas Fogg was a wonderful, quiet, clean, and comfortable place to spend my week in Brussels. I was impressed with the accommodations, particularly the value. I was also delighted with the Breakfast. I will absolutely stay there again if my travel again calls for a stay in Brussels.

hostel bookers actually forgot to send the booking to Phileas Fogg (or so she said) so we ended up staying at the woman who owned its house, as brussels was completely booked at the time. It turned out okay in the end
