Don\'t spend more than a day or two here. Bern is a tiny place (127,000 people) and while very attractive, most if not all of the sights can be seen in a day. Also, the prices can really break the bank - especially food prices. Take advantage of the kitchen in the hostel (if there is one)...more Don\'t spend more than a day or two here. I had a railpass and it was very convenient to get to places like Interlaken and Grindewald -- absolutely gorgeous places with great scenery. That said, I should have just stayed in Interlaken, because that's where I went during the day. The town of Bern is one huge shopping center and that's about it, and everything is SO expensive in Switzerland. If you're looking for Alpine adventure near to Bern, take Interlaken, and just use Bern as a day trip if you really need to see it.close

Don't miss climbing to the top of the cathedral tower for a breathtaking view of Bern and the surrounding Swiss countryside. Numerous foundtains abound for water and pictures. The baby-eating ogre fountain is not to be missed!close

Other than that, theres a lock-out i didnt see while booking! And the cleaning lady wasnt shy to tell us about it when she walked in the room! On thursday moring, during the lock-out, they even lock you out of the common room so you really have NO place to go (like today it was almost raining so we didnt want to wander too far away)! There are many little message/rules on the wall, like if we were in high school! Complete kitchen doesnt even have a oven, how complete is that?? Want an advice? if you stay here anyway (its clean, affordable and located RIGHT down town near all the cafes and restaurants and stores so thats a plus), DONT do you laundry. My clothes came out smelling like humidity and werent damp, they were still wet ( for a total of 8 franc suisse, woohoo!) Anyways, ALL Switzerland is expensive, be aware!close

1overall it is a good hostel, staffs are nice and helpful, and the location is not too far from old town, just few stops by tram. The bad thing is it is expensive and internet is not free.

6Basic room but still one of our favorite stays on our whole europe trip. The staff was great, and free internet access their computers.

5Everything you would expect from a Youth Hostel. The place is good, breakfast was good. The hostel is located on the bottom of a hill; the view walking there is good, but the walk back up the hill is... well its really a steep hill. I would stay here again.
