Built between 1985 and 1905, the cathedral was designed to be a Protestant counterweight to St. Peter's Basilica. It was heavily damaged during the Allies bombing of Berlin and only reopened after reconstruction work in 1993.

I'm not what you would describe as a religious person but the Berliner Dom is the most amazingly beautiful church i've ever been to. It is the largest protestant church in Berlin I belive. This place is interesting and fantastic. Another must do/see in Berlin. I didnt like the 5 euro entrance fee. All other churches and cathedrals are freeclose
