Was only there for 18 hours or so and most of that was out, but the staff was very helpful in providing directions for things to do. Place seemed really clean, was not able to try breakfast or the bar.

Although some of the staff could have been more knowledgable about certain aspects of the city, the location and overall setup of the place was brilliant in a funky little part on the former East side of town. I'd definitely come back.

Right next to a U-Bahn Line,giving access to everywhere. Amazing all-you-can-eat breakfast for 3.50euro. Friendly staff. Large lockers in room, but my padlock didn't fit the big handle, but can hire out a padlock. The Meininger is a great hostel if all you need is a place to sleep--it's very modern, very clean, and literally right next to the Underground, which you can take anywhere in the city. However, if you're looking for the kind of hostel where you can hang out and meet people, this isn't really... more The Meininger is a great hostel if all you need is a place to sleep--it's very modern, very clean, and literally right next to the Underground, which you can take anywhere in the city. However, if you're looking for the kind of hostel where you can hang out and meet people, this isn't really the place to do it--there are common areas, but people tend not to use them, and as a result, the only people you meet will be the people in your room (which may be all you need.) Also, there is a no-alcohol policy which means no pre-drinks before the bar. Finally, there's a breakfast buffet for 3,50 EUR, and although it's all-you-can-eat, the food selection is kind of limited. Keep in mind, this is just one guy's experience, but I would suggest staying at the Meininger only if you're traveling with other people, or if you intend to keep to yourself.close

Procedures such as check in would take forever and I found myself waiting a lot to talk to the front desk workers, but the place was really nice and clean. The attached cafe was convenient and I really liked the location. I would highly recommend the place.

Very nice and helpful staff. Very clean place. Seemed like mostly young people. Really close to subway station (right up from the steps). Nice breakfast in morning.

More like a hotel then hostel. Very quiet and no one really hung out in the general rooms. Rooms have large windows that open for a cool breeze however if you're on the street side it can get very loud. Meininger City Hostel was ok. The only thing that ruined it for me was the other guests. A very strait forward hostel, the staff are extremely helpful and the place is very clean. Great hostel..it looked more like a hotel than a hostel to me... Awesome location, just across the street from the U-bahn station, 5 minutes from the city centre. Staff was really helpful. New building and extremely clean, very quiet. The only thing I would regret is that there's nothing to...

Directions were very vague to say the least...the description of internet access is to say the least, 1 computer in a room, for many people to use, otherwise, great location close to the charles bridge, etc. awesome time

Great place, more like a proper hotel than hostel. Online directions from Tegel aren't great - best to take TXL bus to Alexanderplatz then switch to U2 to Senefelderplatz (direction Pankow).

Really great hostel - also the dorms! Location is very central an the underground station is right outside the door. The staff was very friendly & helpful. I will defenitely stay there again!!

This place is so new I could almost smell the paint on the walls. More a cheap hotel than hostel though. Very easy to get to. Thumbs up.

Free wireless internet throughout the building, and that alongside the central location next to an underground station. Really helped with my flat-hunting. Too many school groups and too large for hostel atmosphere. Kitchen needs microwave and signage about residents' responsibilty for cleaning up.
