Berlin guide
While it was synonymous with a divided Germany for so many years in the past, Berlin now symbolises the unification of the country. Today the German Parliament sits here to discuss issues affecting the country just footsteps away from the Brandenburg Gate, a reminder of both division and unity. The German capital also makes for the perfect city destination as, even though so many landmarks were destroyed during the war, the German capital is being restored to its former glory leaving so much to do both before and after dark.

If you enjoy sightseeing you will find plenty to look at here especially considering nearly all the spectaular buildings have been restored only in the last 50 years. Shopping is everywhere, from the luxury shops on Ku'Damm to little boutiques around Hackisher Markt. Berlin is split into lots of different areas and each one offers a huge choice of shops and restaurants. I have had some of the best meals i ever ate in Berlin and at a fraction of the cost of Dublin Restaurants. The nightlife is also great, bars and clubs stay open till very late, or very early in the morning"! Overall i couldn't recommend Berlin enough, visit and see! There are lots of different areas, each one full of restaurants, bars and clubs. The food is excellent and really good value for money.close

There is a lot more to do than meets the eye. At Christmas time there is loads to do in the city. There are markets every where. The area of Gendarmarkt becomes one big outdoor market with Bratwurst\'s, mulled wine, waffles, crepes, clothes, Christmas ornaments and everything else imaginable. As well as this there is the usual attractions such as the Brandenburg Gate, Reichstag (free admission), Jewish Holocaust memorial, Berliner Dome, Museum Island, the Sony center (with I-Max cinema), Olympiastadion (Hertha BSC home ground), Friedrich street for designer shops, topography of terror, Ka Da Wee (Harrods of Berlin), Berlin zoo and the Jewish museum. Add to this great Beer that\'s very cheap, cheap restaurants serving excellent food and a few very good bars and clubs, Berlin is an excellent destination for party animals and sightseers young or old. Also the people are friendly and more than willing to speak English to you if your German is weak. The Berlin women are also the most beautiful in any city I have been in! close

I like to visit Berlin because it is such a huge and sprawling city made up of many unique neighborhoods with their own history, culture, and character. Getting around is easy via the aboveground or underground trains and buses, and there are also many beautiful streets or woodsy areas perfect for exploring by foot. Don\'t expect people on the street or in businesses to be overly friendly -- that\'s just Berlin -- but you\'ll meet many interesting and open people as well. Don\'t be afraid to ask a stranger to recommend a nice club or cafe in the area, and remember that everyone speaks English too.close

You can still see a bit of the East West divide in Berlin but a great city for short breaks! Even though it might be too short.close

4Despite the fact of the shower in the room (courtines as a cabinet) there is only one toilet (sit) per floor. Honestly I do not recomend this hostel. Its old and the price is high compared with other hostels in the city.
