Ok so you have all heard of the world famous Great Wall of China!... And from the stories the place had high hopes in my book! Be prepared for an hour's journey on bus from Beijing or a 25min ride on train then 10min's by foot to the wall. Once their the large number of people will be... more Ok so you have all heard of the world famous Great Wall of China!... And from the stories the place had high hopes in my book! Be prepared for an hour's journey on bus from Beijing or a 25min ride on train then 10min's by foot to the wall. Once their the large number of people will be streaming towards the wall. Although this section is the main section of the wall there is less touristy spots but are much steeper if you plan on walking any bit of the wall. In the main tourist area still be expecting steep climbs and lots! of people. There are some stalls on the wall but as soon as any hint of police activity is mentioned they scamper off. A small bit along the wall there is a ride down to the base which involves sitting in a sort of sled and decending on a metal slide.. good fun but annoying if you want to go back up again ... Much of the wall is destroyed from time and the weather so only a small 5mile stretch is open to the public.. this by no means is too little due to the fact the wall is so hard to walk. Bring a camera and be amazed at the photo opps' and the views on top the one of the worlds greatest attractions!close
