Basel is Switzerland's third most populous city. Located in northwest Switzerland on the river Rhine, Basel functions as a major industrial centre for the chemical and pharmaceutical industry. The city borders both Germany and France. The Basel region, culturally extending into German Baden-Württemberg and French Alsace, reflects the heritage of its three states in the modern Latin name: "Regio TriRhena". It has the oldest university of the Swiss Confederation . Basel is German-speaking. The local variant of the Swiss German dialects is called Basel German.

abobeleira602 says: “ Very expensive but beautifull coutry! The city is not that party town but with the right company it\'s very cool :) it still has some cool places to go with friendly and talkative people

sandeep6003 says: “ Our reason to land in Basel was the fact of getting cheap air tickets for the Basel Euro-airport. Did not roam around the city much. But Basel can be considered as a base (coz of its cheaper rates compared to other Swiss cities), and you can roam around other cities from basel everyday.

trotolomus6893 says: “ It's such a beautiful city. I've never felt safer anywhere in Europe than in Basel. It looks like there's no crime (except for graffiti...if you even count that). Nobody even locks their bikes up. The architecture is really nice too; very Swiss.
