One of the friendlest cities i have ever visitied, and definately my favourite. The people make you feel welcome and do not make you feel bad if you don't have Spanish. The food, shopping and cafe bars are amazing and toss in the beach and fantastic wheater and you can see why it is a favourite. For those who want culture it has it in spades, with plenty to see and do. I recommend trying some local Cava, Spanish sparkling wine which is really excellent!

I\'m studying abroad in Zaragoza, Spain, and a few buddies and I went to Barcelona for the weekend. It\'s great. We had a better idea of what Spanish kids do coming from Zgz, so we were able to party for cheap, but there are bars and discotecs throughout the center that are great. We actually ended up at a Ska concert one night which is really tight. Supposedly the kids there do botellones on the beaches in the summer, but we came in winter, so that didn\'t happen for us. In general, it\'s the same as everywhere else, if you know some Spanish and can say hey I\'m American let\'s chill you\'ll be set all night. If you don\'t speak any Spanish, don\'t worry, almost all waiters and stuff speak Engliish cause its a big city, and like I said, the bars and discotecs in the center are awesome. During the day their are awesome museums, especially the picasso, and the gaudi architecture is amazing. Good time, which I\'d had more than a weekend.

This was the third time for me in Barcelona, but I\'m still amazed by the organization and the services the city offers. Moreover, it\'s very cheap and well connected all over, and at night taxis are extremely affordable! I wouldn\'t mind living there!

Very nice City..Theres so much to see, the 5 days I stayed there weren\'t enough to see half of the sights. The architecture of Gaudí is really amazing, I\'ve never seen something like that! The only thing that I didn\'t like were the high prices for visiting some buildings. For going inside of Casa Battló you have to pay 16 € e.g..Thats simply hunger for money of tourists. By and large its worth visiting Barlecona.

Barcelona has everything you could possibly want and need. The culture, food, activities and much more are all great. I feel in love with the city and hope everyone who lives there and/or visits has just as much fun.

Watch for pickpockets in the busy metro. Almost got a souvenir stolen from my messenger bag - ha! A lot of French influences and a lot of tourists. Not my favorite destination in Spain but worth a visit.

kinda expensive in some places, overall i say it was worth every damn penny and i enjoyed all the sights. Museums are really cheap and by far the most impressive ive seen in Spain outside of Madrid. A must go!

The weather this time of year is perfect for anyone stuck at school in a northern city like me (Vienna). Not just the sunshine though, this city has plenty of cheap sightseeing and eating that help form the very definition of a vaction. The culture and vibe that Barcelona exudes also sets this city apart from anywhere else I\'ve been. Vienna is cool, Paris is great, Barcelona is the greatest. Just my opinion...

I loved Barcelona! Definitely go see all of the Gaudi architecture that you can! Also, there was a free walking tour of the gothic district on Saturday that met by the fountain in the Royal Piazza right off Ramblas. Great nightlife too.

trying to be objective, since I did have personal circumstances shrodding my judgment, I still think I ha a hard time enjoying Barcelona : it's overun with uncultered students looking to drink themselves sick until they fall on their fat faces, men constantly bother you if you're a single woman traveller covered head to toe (even if you're trying to have a solemn piece of silence because you found out someone dear had died), everything feels catered to tourists and there is never a shortage of pickpockets, and rude barcelonians on the street (I was robbed for the first time after spending time in "oh so dangerous eastern europe and central asia", the only nice barcelonians I met were in my hostel staff) The Gaudy is amazing, yes, but there is more to travel, at least for me, than a beautiful city with an awful attitude. I'd be happy to return to "ugly" Ulan Bator, the people are amazing and they never robbed me in my three months there, but never again to Barcelona. Barcelona is overrated, I think, and not worth the hype, unless, again, you're a trashy 18 year old American university student who loves to drink, party, and manage to say "like" when not screaming or drinking, and has no interest in anything exotic and wants to stick to the mainstream allure of the western world. Western Europe is dead, there, that is all there really is to it, except for places such as France and Portugal, where people still have emotion and spirit.

Went in low season in Dec so this is perhaps the reason for the low ratings given. The shops for buying clothes and eating are pricey since the days of Pesetas. Can easily pay 12 Euros for a main meal. The weather was okay around 12-16 C in day time. It rained a couple of days. The waves on the beach looked inviting but the chill wind was off putting. Now the hostel itself was cool. The staff were pretty laid back and on the night i stayed did their best to encourage a party atmosphere (impromptu bongo whilst group dancing; pub crawls; tapas evenings etc). The bar on the ground floor was a bonus. Would like to have stayed longer to get to know people more. Some guests were there for a short week\'s vacation, whilst others were just staying the night.

One of the great cities to visit. Lots of see from Gaudi and the shopping along the main strip downtown is great. New years spent on La Rambla was jolly good times and the food is fantastic.

Gaudi\'s architecture is beautiful. La Pedrera is a mustl Picasso and MACBA were both very interesting. It\'s easy to get around in the city because of the subway system.

There is so much to do, if you have the time then walk everywhere, it\'s not far and you see more. If you don\'t have the time then the Metro system is very easy to navigate!

Barcelona is superb for a short stay if you want to conquer everything. Intending not to sleep for a weekend I surprised my bro with a trip to Barcelona knowing that he was a huge fan of Gaudi and partial to the odd drink! Barcelona was perfect for this, and when we got back to England sleep was on the agenda just as much as sharing all the details of a wonderful trip.

Barcelona is a great city! There is so much stuff to do and see, no matter what your tastes. The Gaudi houses get to be a little bit much after a while, but it\'s still neat to see them while walking around.

Depart of the 1000 clubs and discotheques you have to see the church: sacrada famila, the olympic park, the magic fountain, and for shure the beach! The best clubs in barcelona were arena vip and space;-) Take care there are children trying to trick you by asking for a signiture for charity and afterwards for money which never ends in charity!!!!!!Never sign anything

Renting a full apartment was so inexpensive here. You can also cook because they are brand new and have brand new kitchens. Nice comfortable bedrooms, quiet, and very safe. Would definitely recommend, especially with a large group.

Throughout my trip I found myself constantly saying the same thing- funky. Barcelona has a GREAT character. The people and clothes stores are hip, the beaches are relaxed, and there is a huge party scene. There is something for everyone here; though I urge you not to miss Park Guell.

We were very excited when we arrived to Barcelona but when we arrived at the hostel we had to leave. The neighborhood is very dirty and the cab driver even warned us of the trouble we could find at night. We left and I wont recommend this place unless you want to stay in all night

For a Filipino, Barcelona is a great destination because there is a strong and unified Filipino community here who exuded the same warmth, hospitality, cheerfulness and spirituality that we have back in the Philippines. But apart from it, the city has a lot to offer -- from its beachfront to the mountains, to city life, culture and places of worship. Unfortunately, it didn't feel safe as it was two years ago when I had been in this city for the first time. I got my body bag containing my passport, money and valuable stolen when I carelessly put it down for two seconds to tie the strings of my sneakers. This took place in Arc de Triomphe. It was a very unpleasant experience. The only relief I had was hearing similar stories told by fellow Filipinos and even two other room mates in Gothic Point hostel where I stayed for three nights. Imagine three persons in the same dorm in a hostel getting robbed or snatched of their belongings in one day in three separate locations/instances? Getting a police report was a relief, but reporting the incident may not even be of any help. I should say that the surveillance cameras are ineffective or useless too, except probably for a murder case or act of terrorism. The city government doesn't seem to have a sensible, workable plan to protect its tourists from the goons that lurk around, save warnings plastered all over the city. I was told that most of the thieves are undocumented Morocs and Latin Americans. If caught, they are detained for a few hours. They are then released, free to harm anyone that come their way again because they cannot be deported. I'm not sure if it's true that the Spanish government wouldn't know where to send them off. How pathetic. This heavily taints the good things to experience in this beautiful city.

Running down the list. Some things like souvenirs and lodging seemed overpriced compared to other areas of Europe. People are really eager to share the Catalan culture... including many parties along the beach. Near Placa Catalanya, there is an amazing street for shopping. However, outside of Gaudi\'s buildings, parks, and churches, there aren\'t very many obvious sites to see. The metro is also a bit tricky since the lines have long distances between the stops and where you want to go. The food is AMAZING, but try the places filled with locals, not tourists. And who doesn\'t love a nice week full of sunshine. The weather is amazing.

Barcelona is full of culture and there is always something going on. The famous architecture of Antoni Gaudi is astounding and something I believe everyone should see before they die, especially La Sagrada Familia! Be sure to give yourself enough time to take it all in. Barcelona is a city you can keep on visiting and never have the same experience!

I would really suggest for people to not just go to Barcelona, but also tour around. I was also in Madrid and Toledo and they offer much more that Barca alone. Plus, Barcelona is not Spain: it\'s too full of tourists, it\'s hard to find a real Paella (typical food for Spain) or a real Flamenco show.

THIS HOSTEL IS NOTHING LIKE THE PICTURES! WE WERE WOKEN EARLY IN THE MORNING AND TOLD WE WERE BEING MOVED TO ANOTHER HOTEL ONE HOUR OUT OF TOWN AND FOUND OUT IT WAS GOING TO BE A RUN DOWN HOTEL WITH NO WATER OR LIGHTING!!! THE ONLY REASON WE WERE NOT MOVED WAS BECAUSE ANOTHER COUPLE LEFT DUE TO THE POOR QUALITY OF THE HOTEL! PLEASE DO NTO BOOK HERE WE LOST AN ENTIRE DAY WAITING AROUND PACKED READY TO BE MOVED! I CONFIRMED ALL OF OUR DETAILS SEVERAL TIMES DIRECTLY WITH THE OWNER AND WHEN I SHOWED HIM THE PRINTED OUT EMAILS HE JUST APPOLOGISED AND SAID WE STILL HAD TO MOVE. THERE WERE NO WINDOWS THE ROOM WAS VERY SMALL AND THE TV FUZZY. NO WIFI! NO BREAKFAST! AND NO RECEPTION SO IF YOUR PHONE DOES NOT WORK IN SPAIN THEN YOU CANT CALL THE OWNER TO COME AND CHECK YOU IN!!! DO NOT BOOK!!!

I was 4 days in Barcelona for the second time now, and it is still not enough to experience everything. All the parks, squares, museums, clubs, pubs, bars, streets, beaches - everything has its own charm and is worth seeing it. Lots of foreigners in the city, lots of young people to meet. This is skateboarding capital of Europe :)

This is quite a beautiful city with lots of great architectural buildings and places to visit. It\'s quite easy to move around with the subway and people are very nice.

We have been really satisfied with Hostel Lenin during our wonderful visit of Barcelona. Location in the centre of the city, everything clean, internet acces whenever we needed... Our room was very very small with the view of the dark atrium but the other Hostel Lenin spaces were roomy and lightful and anyway - it was just for sleeping. Thanks to the kind and willing hostel staff!!
