The beds are very uncomfortable and there are no doors separating the rooms from the common areas, so it can remain loud throughout the night even if no one in your room is moving around. They charge for sheets and other things that other hostels will lend you for no fee. There isn't a good common area to just chill and hang out with other people--there's a space for it, but it's full of plastic chairs and feels like a school classroom.close

My stay at Alternative was excellent! Great hostel location, amazing staff, all of them were so friendly. Very helpful with really good advice on what to see and do. Clean rooms, clean bathrooms. Very safe. I will be back!

There is no TV and Security card. Fridge is big enough but Kitchen is narow. Because hostel is on the main road and two dormitoris face to main road, they are very noisy, especially night time.

Great, great place to stay. I'd definitely stay there again. However, I think having to pay to use towels, and linen is a joke. And I also think 6 Euro's to hold luggage/use facilities was a bit steep, too. I really liked how everyone is very respectful of the other guests, the staff were great,...

The hostel was great. some of the rooms can be a bit noisy but quiet time starts at midnight anyways. the staff was fun and the hostel was in a perfect location.

Very good location. Walking distance to everything. Nice hostel with good beds and a good nights sleep. A bit tiny rooms, no breakfast and a small kitchen. But everything is fairly new and clean. Hated this hostel. The staff are useless, the place is dirty and they are very stingy. They will charge you for everything, even your bed sheets. So really, with the extra costs, this place ends up being more expensive than the average hostel would be.

This was definitely the best hostel I've ever stayed in, and I've stayed in a ton! Totally recommend it, awesome location, amazing people - going back next week hopefully!!!!

This place has the atmosphere of a morgue!! Ok so it doesnt have to have a ´party´ atmosphere but this was so boring and dead that it wasnt funny! Staff was ok, nothing special at all. The rooms need AC, when your rules say quiet time is midnight tell your staff not to tell us to keep quiet at 11pm just because they are doing something, also dont do washing after midnight, the spinning and dryer keeps you awake. Alternative is the perfect word for this place! Unfortunately, no one seemed to be social and my friends and I all felt like we had to be quiet all the time. Perfect location and excellent facilities though.

The place was fine somethings were better than other hostels. But didnt fancy the 3 or 6euro charge for leaving a bag till you fly on the last day or the extra 3 if you wanted to hang around. Helpful staff. Very tight security. Sheets cost extra. Great location near Place Catalunya. People are friendly but this is not a party hostel - be quiet at night.

Lovely energy surrounds the place the moment you walk in the door. You can tell that Al's hostel is truly there because he wants to help you out with your travels.

The location is superb, although you have to pay for things that are commonly for free in other hostels, like luggage storage or linens. On the other hand very clean and safe hostel, very friendly and helpful staff. I would stay there again

A great little hostel that feels more like a home than a hostel. Staff were really helpful and the vibe of the place was brilliant! I would certainly reccomend this hostel, especially other people travelling on their own.
