The positives: Great location, very clean, and a lovely hostess with lots of information and good recommendations about the city. The negatives: Construction is going on right in front of the pension, so it is quite loud. Bring your earplugs with you if you expect to get any sleep.

the owner (marion) was fantastic. she was so helpful and made our time in barcelona amazing. the location is amazing (right in the center of everything). I would recommend this to anyone.

It was a really pleasant stay and I had a great time off from work. The location of the pension is very central and the owner was super helpful at any time of the day or night.

I booked this trip as a birthday present for my parents in law. As I have been to Pension Nevada twice previously, I knew that my in-laws would have a good time and get around to see a lot of Barcelona. All in all, it was a very satisfying trip for them.

The woman who owns the pension is super nice and friendly, quite helpful too. Though it was one of the noisiest places I have ever stayed. Construction all around, and because it is on a main street, you have people yelling until 4am some nights. The hostel wasn't bad, just the terrible...

Host is great, but she loves to talk. She was SO helpful in finding the right things to do in the city for the amount of time we had. The location is great, but at the time of our visit (Late March 2008) there was construction outside every morning. Jackhammers aren't exactly the easiest things...

There was only one working toilet, and the shower was hand-held. Pluses: good location, nice enough owner. My friend and I would not stay here again for the price that we paid.close

Marion is a wonderful host. Don't be put off by the dark stairwell...the place is light and bright. The locaton is fantastic...close to everything. This place is ideal for female travellers, as it is well-run and safe.

This hostel is definetly the best place if you would like to stay a few nights in the city centre of Barcelona. You get a map and interesting information about the city. You feel like beeing home there. Location couldn't be better

The location is fantastic, literally a few steps from the Placa Catalunya, where the aerobus stops (which is extremely handy for getting to and from the airport). From there it is perfectly positioned for all of the sights, most of which we walked to during our four days there, only occasionally... more The location is fantastic, literally a few steps from the Placa Catalunya, where the aerobus stops (which is extremely handy for getting to and from the airport). From there it is perfectly positioned for all of the sights, most of which we walked to during our four days there, only occasionally using the metro. The best thing about the location is that it disects the main areas, La Rambla is a 2 minute stroll away and north are all the main Gaudi attractions, and a few minutes to the south is 'old town'. Although it is an old historic building, the owner Marion keeps things extremely tidy and hygienic. The fact that she is so particular about this is reassuring and so although there is a shared bathroom, it doesn't really matter. There is a couple of flights of stairs to get to the pension, however this really wasn't a problem for us (including one 7 month pregnant woman!) Marion was very helpful with local information, transport info and dining tips and went out of her way to make sure we were comfortable, she really is very passionate about looking after her guests. As a less expensive option, I can't imagine that you would find anything better, the building has a lovely character with flowers in window boxes and is right on a main pedestrian shopping area, without being too noisy. It felt very safe, clean and comfortable. It really is in one of the best locations in Barcelona.close

acutally to sum it up, I have to admit that the beds werde not as confortable like in other hostels, but if you don´t want to sleep half of the day it is fine. the staff was very nice and provided helpfull tipps and the location in the city was really extraordenary. so I recommend it.

I highly recommend this hostel!! Our stay started out very well, with a greeting from Marion (who speaks fluent englsih, german, and french), and a ton of information, maps, and suggestions from her. The rooms and environs were very clean and had a lot of character. The location was amazing,... more I highly recommend this hostel!! Our stay started out very well, with a greeting from Marion (who speaks fluent englsih, german, and french), and a ton of information, maps, and suggestions from her. The rooms and environs were very clean and had a lot of character. The location was amazing, literally 3 minutes walk (on a pedestrianized street) to the Placa de Catlunya and the North end of Las Ramblas. The place was very safe, every room got their own keys, and Marion or her partner are onsite 24 hours a day. I was a little unsure about the shared bathroom, but even this was not a problem - Marion cleans the shower between uses, and makes a list if there's a line so you can wait in your room (we were up early enough that this wasn't a problem). The bathroom (toilet) was seperate from the shower and had a handy red light / green light sign so you didn't have to walk down the hall or knock on the door to see if it was busy. I gave the Excellent rating for Fun based on the perfect locatation of the hostel, the hostel itself is small and quiet, not the place to have an in-room party, but the perfect place to crash after a night on the town. Thanks to Marion and Othmar for a wonderful weekend in a Barcelona, and I wish you the best in the future!close

Whe stayed there for 8 nights. The location couldn't be better. It really is the happening area in Barcelona. It is near the Ramblas and in walking distance of a lot of sights. It really is the happening area in Barcelona. It is near the Ramblas and in walking distance of a lot of sights. There are also loads of coffee places and restaurants around. The metro stations and bus stops are close by. The downside is that you get a lot of street noise so if you're a light sleeper, bring ear plugs. The owners are very nice, chatty and helpful. They gave us loads of good information about where to go and how to get there. They also have metro/bus tickets for sale. The place itself is pretty basic. It has no airco but the rooms do have a ceiling fan. The beds are quite short (1.90m). I'm 1.83m (6ft) and my feet were banging off the ends of the bed. For the rest it was fine. The place is clean and secure. There is somebody there almost 24/7. We didn't really meet any of the other guests. Everyone kept to themselves. We were out most of the day anyway.close
