The upriver part is very picturesque with gardens, lovely bridges and views to the MCG (Melbourne Cricket Ground and Rod Laver Arenas (tennis) The river winds its way through the cityscape, which i feel is much better architecturally than Sydney. Down river from Docklands takes you under the Bolte Bridge (one of the nicest looking bridges I have seen) into the Industrial Port of Melbourne (Australia's busiest container port) Then underneath the Westgate Bridge (a span fell down in 1973) to the historic port of Williamstown. A lovely seaside village with heaps of interesting restaurants and souvenir shops. All in all the Yarra provides an interesting and different view into the heart of Melbourne, A beautiful City by any standards.close

Think there are some fancier boats too offering evening and dinner cruises.close
