What are a great find! We loved this hotel in the middle of Athens. It's reasonably priced, clean and has breakfast included. I would go back.

The location was very close to all the major sites in Athens. No complaints about the hotel. It looked like it had been renovated in recent months so we didn't encounter the problems that other people had written about.

This hotel was overall good - excellent location. The only bad point is that it is quite noisy - street noise and other guests. Although location and all else was good, I would only reluctantly book to go back due to the noise (was not good for us).

This is more a hotel than hostel. I stayed there to get a fews nights sleep and a clean shower. Go here for sleep and to get yourself sorted, not to party. Hotel staff was extremely accommidating and friendly.

Very handy to the metro, the Acropolis and Plaka. A bit dilapitated and some of the staff were not very friendly, but overall okay.

We stayed there for a week and the airconditioning didn't work most of the time (it worked only on 2-3 evenings), so it was very-very cold in our room. The room itself and the bathroom were very small, but clean. The bathroom floor got very wet after every time we used the shower. Excellent...

The downside is that the entire area between Omonia Square and Monastiriki is frequented by a large number of prostitutes. The hotel is on a main street where there are no prostitutes, but one cannot avoid passing them as soon as one turns into a side-street. The staff is very friendly and helpful. We stayed there in two occasions. The first time the room was nice, a good 2 stars room. The second time though it was extremely small, especially the bathroom and this spoiled a bit the good impressions we had. The breakfast is okay if you don't expect anything special. For a 2 stars hotel I found the price we payed (60 to 70 euro per night for a double room)a bit expensive, but I suppose that it is normal for Athens even we were off-season.close

First one not so good, had small double room with small private bathroom, my friend and I felt like were walking on top of each other. Double bed only had single sheet on top & a/c didn't work properly! On return from Greek Islands a week later we got upgraded to twin room - fantastic! Had to access our room from roof garden - so views to acropolis just fantastic! Twin room much bigger with bigger bathroom & a/c that worked. Really enjoyed this room & uniqueness of going out onto roof garden to get to room. All quite clean. Has cute birdcage staircase & lift (but only fits 1 person). Great breakfast included in price. Staff very helpful and opened breakfast up early as we had an early train to get to Piraeus to catch 7.30am ferry to Santorini. Very close to Monastiraki train station. Location great to walk all around Monastiraki, Plaka, Acropolis, Syntagma Square and to Olympic Stadium (Panathinaikon stadium). We paid little bit more to stay in this area but glad we did as was very busy & felt very safe. Would stay here again.close

Excellent location, close to all the major sites. A couple of staff could be friendlier and more helpful but there were some nice people as well. Overall not a bad place to stay in Athens.

The key cards should not have the room number on. I understood that the idea of the card was if it was lost, not one knew the hotel or room number.

We had a very pleasant stay, nice and quiet, frendly staff, breakfast was ok, beds a little hard, check the cool lift out! On the whole 9 out of 10. It was a bit awkward getting back to the airport because of the national strike, shame the staff did not tell us about it.

What we experienced with Cecil Hotel was incredible: we had already booked our room two months in advance. However, on our arrival the staff lady told us that there were no rooms free. But she had already phoned to another beautiful hotel nearby, they were awaiting us there. But we had to hurry up, as it was the only room left there. (A lie, as we found out later) . We were very disappointed, cause we spent lots of time in finding a well situated and nice hotel for our first Love-trip. The other hostel was far away and in a very dodgy, dangerous area, drug addicted people hanging around and everything. So we returned to Cecil in order to ask if they could not find another hotel for us. There were sth. like 20 people checking in at that moment. We asked how that was possible, if there were no rooms free as she had told us before. She said, it was a group of people who had phoned early in the day and they decided to give them our room. Incredible!!! We spent half the day looking for another hotel. And we only had one day in Athens. There is a hostel close by, Zeus, nice , cosy, friendly staff and much cheaper. In Athens street, close to the Cecil Hotel there are two more hotels, better price, nice buildings, friendly staff. Don't go to Cecil.close

Good location just a couple of mins walk to the metro and Plaka, lovely hostel with a great atmosphere. Brilliant lift, clean and nicely decorated rooms, helpful staff and a fabulous view from the roof. Great breakfast too! Recommended.

I found the Cecil quite a nice place to stay. Most important, it's really close to a Metro station and close to great shopping too. I would recommend it to others without hesitation.

When we arrived late at night, the hotel was fully booked and we were diverted to another hotel. I have hardly ever met reception staff so hopeless to deal with and so unfriendly. I am travelling a lot both private and in my job.

The location is literally right by the Acropolis, and in walking distance from two train stations. The staff were more than helpful on recomending places to go outside and inside of Athens. Plus they replace your towels, bed sheets, and shower stuff everyday. The bathroom was large enough to use comfortably, and there was a TV in the room. We really enjoyed the stay, the people, and we felt like we were in a 4 star hotel. We all were shocked at the price, for three nights, and four people : 247 euro. very worth it!!! Also, they reccomended to take a trip to Glyfada, a beach town south of Athens....THE PERFERCT PLACE TO GO ON VACATION!!! Have fun all!close
