If you are into trance music, this is the place to go. The resident DJ is really good and the place has a great atmosphere |

Hill Street Blues is a unique coffeeshop with grafitti all over the walls and comfy couchs at the back of the shop for punters to sit back, relax, enjoy a smoke of the local herbal remedies and a pint of local beer! The atmosphere is unique from other coffeeshops as it feels less contrived and more laid back. As with all coffeeshops there is a 'dealers' corner and a list of the products is on display. They also serve food, snacks and herbal snacks! |

Located on Rembrandtplein, Escape is Amsterdam's biggest club. If you're looking to dance all night look no further. But if you want a night out with friends to chat, steer clear. |

The Irish always tend to migrate to the Irish Bars when they are away and I’m afraid to say I was no exception! After walking the length and breadth of the shops we ended up in Leidseplein and it was just so inviting looking! It has 3 floors but we only stayed on the ground floor which had a lovely cosy feel to it. Also had great views out to the little ice skating rink. Nice place for a cheeky few drinks! I wasn’t there at night but I’m sure the atmosphere is great! |

Popped in here for a drink, the bar itself was ok, not a huge amount of atmosphere, wasn't too impresssed with the bathrooms though, there was an attendent there who was looking for some sort of tip but didnt' do anything, the bathrooms weren't even that clean! Only stayed for the one so that might say it all, maybe it is better during the day for a coffee and a snack! |

After taking a stroll around Dam square, and taking a quick sharp exit when we realized we were heading towards the red light district (dodgy at nighttime!!) we stumbled across this Irish bar, yep yet another one, i know I should have really tried to look for something more local but this place had a great Christmassy feel to it and was big, had seats and most importantly had Bulmers (Magners to those in Europe!). The bar is great, good music, good vibe, really friendly staff (and good service, a first for us in Amsterdam!) and is open really late. It is really centrally located, just off Dam Square and only around the corner from our hotel on Singel. A good spot if your like me and tend to be magnetically drawn to Irish bars when abroad!! |

Boom Chicago is pretty much an institution now in Amsterdam and has been around for years. All comedy is improvised and performed by American comedians. Some if it can be cheesy, but there's a lot of crowd participation and it's generally a good night out. |
